    Agger in Midfield?

Just noticed this on the official, was a Q & A by Rafa.
Agger has settled in well, hasn't he?

Last season was a pity because he was injured for three months. We have a lot of confidence in him. I was surprised to see him shoot with his right foot the other day, but with the left foot, with the head and also playing football he is really good. He is learning and always trying to improve. When you have a player with this mentality you know you can use him in different positions for one or two games because he will try to understand what to do in that position.
Would you be supprised to see him there?.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Id expect to see Carra there before him.

I agree with the glove on this one. Carra has played midfield before and could probably do it again. That's not to say that Agger couldn't fill the void if need be.

Agger is more of a ball player than Carra, so more suited to midfield.

Yes, Carragher has played there before, but in my opinion not to any great success.

Didnt Agger fill in in midfield in Denmark?

Anyway he is much better on the ball and a much better passer so IMO he´ll be there before Carra.

Agger is very composed on the ball and could play the defensive MF role behind SG easily
            Dare we believe

I can't see it. We need to build up a central defensive partnership. I guess City have a relatively static midfield which would make this the game to try it out if we are going to. I hope we don't though.

i agree with the majority on this one, if i had to pick one player to play there from our centre halves, it would be agger, and i wouldnt be supprised if Rafa decided to give him a run out there, not that his ball playing skills need development. rafa has done it in the reserves though with the young defenders to improve their ball skills.

I could see Rafa playing Agger in there to neutralise Barton - but I reckon it's be something like below

                      Reina
                      Finnan Carra Sami Riise
                      Pennant Gerrard Zenden Garcia
                      Crouch Bellers

The team is now on the official. Agger LB by the looks of it.
