Agger for me, I thought the lad's play was very mature yesterday, his distribution wasn't as good as it can be but it was still better than our world-class passing players (Alonso, Gerrard).

Reina was excellent but didn't have quite enough to do so Agger shades it imo

Pepe Reina - this should not have been the case however

Is it not a bit weird that, in a game where most people agree Everton stuck 9 men behind the ball and played for a point, our goalie was seemingly the most impressive performer?

Yeah I find this very very strange indeed. I’m Reina’s biggest fan, but to award him MOM for one regulation save seems completely bizarre to me.

Rubbish 'regulation save', yeah right?!?! I trust you're referring to the block save one on one with Johnson? Far from regulation that IMO... that was a game-saving save. And when our attackers were so inept only one Reina can be awarded the MOM (for Liverpool).

He also had to deal with several tricky back passes and looked assured on each occasion. And was a safe pair of hands several times. Everton actually had the most 'clear-cut' chances believe it or not.

Clearly the criteria for 'man of the match' ain't what it used to be.

I never said it was rubbish. It was a regulation stop from a scuffed shot. Important, but the save’s importance doesn’t make it any less ‘regulation’.

Yes, our attacking players were crap – hence my nomination for Agger. But if Reina had to deal with a few backpasses then he should definitely be given MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          :whatever:

They were hospital passes and could easily have landed us in the ****ter.

You're also over-looking the four shots on goal, two of which were clearer than anything we offered. "Scuffed shot"

IMO Renia got MOM because without him we could've easily got 'robbed' and that would have been a TOTAL disaster!! Agger didn't prevent this, or any other player for that matter, REINA did.

Interesting poll on the Echo site....

                            Man of the match:

                            Agger 57%
                            Carra 16%
                            Kuyt 25%
                            Finnan 3%

                            Reina??????????????
