Call me rash or whatever, but we deserve a manager who can give us a shot at the league. Benitez hasn't got a clue in that repsect. I've got my tin hat ready, but i'd like the decent posters to answer me why he should STILL be manager.

This was the point of my post/poll about Rafa the other week. Well said Bob.

What really peturbs me about this season is that things are clearly not working and Rafa appears to show no idea of how to change it and put it right. We've played the same boring, predictable tactics in every single game and it simply isn't working - and yet we persist.........

I've old enough to have seen some dreadful performances by Liverpool - but the string of non-performances put up by Rafa's team this season takes some beating. It really does.

I totally agree with the above. This is not just a blip, it's far worse than that. Our football is atrocious, it really is. The second half yesterday was as bad as anything I can remember under Ged. I want to believe Rafa can get us out of this mess but the more performances I witness like the one last night makes me wonder whether he can. Time will tell..

Oh hear we go.Why is it that everytime we have a poor result in the league there is always one person who pops up and says sack Rafa? It drivs me mad, you're supposed to support the team through thick and thin. If we got rid of Rafa we'd be in a far worse situation than we are now, first we'd need to find a new manager, then he'd want to bring in all his own players (and where's the cash coming from for that?)

Its not Rafa's fault that the players aren't performing, ok so you can blame him for makign soem poor signing in the summer, thats fine, just give the man a chance, we will win the league under Rafa's management.

Isn´t this just the typical learning curve, things go up and you seem to do well, then they stop going up and you stagnate for a while, then things go up again. The trick is not to give up when it´s all going against you.

I'm not sure. Does the learning curve have to involve such steep differentials in fortunes in such short periods of time? Should it really go from us being a pretty good side to crap in 3 months? Maybe, but I'm really not sure. As I said earlier, time will tell if this is just par for the course or the wheels fall off. I'm hoping for the former..

This is a similar situation when he came here, the only difference is the players and they seem to be rather less entused. Like someone said before, Rafa seems to learn from his mistakes and he had similiar seasons in Spain. Success followed by failure followed by success. He is a pragmatist of the highest order and sometimes that will work against him but on the whole it should work out fine, IMO. He´ll ship out Pennant and Bellamy if they are not doing the job, no doubt about it but as it is we are stuck with each other and have a lot of injuries so we´ll jsut have to get along.

Bringing Cisse back is just a step backwards.

All i'll say to this trash is, How long did it take Ferguson to win the title for Utd?

We don't have the money Chelski have for overnight success or Utd for that matter.

AA want's to give him another season tho, which is exactly what I think. If he hasn't turned us around by then, then it might be time for him to exit stage left, but not on the basis of 3 dodgy months of a season.

We still might go third on Saturday.

No we haven´t gone backwards. We stood still, we just had a tough fixture list and a spate of injuries coupled with bad luck and bad form. We lost most of these away fixtures last season too didn´t we? They just came at a bad time and one after other.
