    Chris Bascombe...

...where's your gloomy write up today then eh? I remember last week you had most people on here believing that we're 5 years behind arsenal. I'm not saying we're amazing all of a sudden and i'm not saying arsenal are suddenly ****e, but finishing well ahead of them last year and being just 1 point behind at the moment (despite going through an inevitable bad spell which ALL clubs will suffer at some stage of the season) does not make us to be in such a mess as you'd like everyone to think. Chris, you're one of the worst, knee-jerk, gloomy "journalists" I've ever had the misfortune to come across. LFC fan indeed.

      Inevitible bad spell ? Hilarious.

So this bad spell has lasted over 3 months now, when's it going to end ?

We ARE 5 years behind Arsenal in terms of off-field ventures – i.e new stadium, youth policy etc.

I suspect his “gloomy write-up” will appear this lunchtime, and it will be just as gloomy as recent write ups. And rightly so. We’re ****.

i disagree. remind me, which arsenal players have come through their youth policy that can compare to gerrard, fowler, owen, carragher, warnock.

As for the new stadium - they've got one, we haven't. big deal - it doesn't make us 5 yrs behind as a club!

I believe we are actually 3 years behind them in terms of building a new stadium and as far as being 5 years behind them in youth policy, unless I'm very much mistaken, we are current holders o fthe FA Youth Cup

You reckon we’ll be playing in a new stadium in three years? Get real mate.

We may have won the FA Youth Cup but they have a constant stream of kids (albeit foreign ones, but so what?) seamlessly slotting into the first team set up. We don’t.

Wenger has an eye for young talent that is the envy of all other managers - nobody else does this, so you could argue that Arsenal with Wenger on board are easily ahead of LFC in terms of youth talent and development, but I believe it's solely down in Wenger, once he goes, the youth talent will dry up at Arsenal.

Interesting comments albeit completely inaccurate. Wenger's youth policy is a myth. Of the current squad, unless i'm mistaken, only hoyte and aliadiere came through this "mythical" youth system that is "5 years ahead" of Liverpools!!

                          Er, hello?!?!?

Eboue? Senderos? Toure? All players picked up for peanuts at a very young age and now in the first team.

And Fabregas and a couple of young lads on loan at Brum who seem good.

I see where you're coming from now. I thought that, like me, you were talking about players that came through the youth system and hadn't been purchased from other clubs, hence my reference to gerrard, owen, fowler and carragher. A case of crossed wires I declare!
