If a bid came in for Alonso of say £20m, and 3 quarters of the cash was then used to sign Tim Cahill, would you be happy with that?

Can't stand Cahill, he's a thug.. However if you were to say we sold Alonso and got Arteta i'd be intrigued... I still think Arteta is a poor mans Shabby but he seems to have improved considerably this seasonThey've won the league, bigger stars than Dallas, they've got more silver than Buckhingham Palace, no one knows quite what to expect, when the Red Machine's in full effect!

No. Alonso is one of the best passers in the game. Gerrard is a good player but I think that you all have seen that Alonso is the better central midfielder of them.
Cahill isn't even near Alonso's class and if we sold him then we would need to replace him anyway because Cahill is a different type of player.Just believe and you never know what will happen.
According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I dont know one blue who says he can play 4 4 2 as he cant tackle (He can foul well enough though), his passing isnt very good and he isnt disciplined enough in that role. If we want to play a 4 5 1 and have a decent goalscoring midfielder behind a striker then he'd be alright, otherwise its totally and utterly pointless.Originally posted by philred10 View Postif inter offered dacourt, ibrahimovic and £7m then id say yes. cahill is a poor mans gerrard imho, not a bad player and one who is underestimated even now.

Exactly, a bizarre question, a player who hasnt proven he can play 4 4 2 (Their own fans words not mine) and would we be happy with getting rid of one of the best passers in the World and signing him?Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostWould I be happy??! Christ. A better hypothetical question would be selling Alonso for £20m and getting a top class striker while playing 4 4 2 with Momo and Gerrard, at least that could spark proper debate. This one is mental.

**** **** **** I HATE THEM 3 WORDS, THE VAST MAJORITY OF PLAYERS ARE A 'POOR MANS GERRARD' AREN'T THEY?Originally posted by philred10 View Postif inter offered dacourt, ibrahimovic and £7m then id say yes. cahill is a poor mans gerrard imho, not a bad player and one who is underestimated even now.
And no i wouldn't sell Alonso for £20m for 3/4's of the cash to be spent on Tim Cahill."Let me say for the record, I am not a gangster and never have been. Im not the thief who grabs your purse. Im not the guy who jacks your car. Im not down with the people who steal and hurt others. Im just a brother who fight back."

the point of calling him a poor mans gerrard is that replacing alonso with a gerrard tpe player would be a nonsense, we have offensive midfielders but have a distinct lack of defensive midfielders and could actually do with proper back up for sissoko. perhaps i should have made myself a hypocrite and said cahill isnt lfc class
