We have knowone arriving late in the box like Scholes and Cahill do, Stevie should do this for us...but for some reason he doesnt. He prefers to score long range goals.

I think SG does and will do this, if played CM all the time.

However, playing him there means that one of Alonso or Momo misses out (assuming we play 4-4-2, as we normally do). Thus, we once again reach the crux of the issue. Whether or not Alonso fits in with our system.

Purely theoretical, but I think Kaka would be a bit like Zola (who lets be honest didn't look a great bet to adapt to PL but turned out to be one of the best players to grace the division) - using his brain and close control to make space.

I've just found this thread and find the whole idea ridiculous. Besides the fact that Alonso is one of the best midfielders in the world, Cahill does two things, scores goals, and fouls people. That's a bit of a limited football player in my eyes. £15m? Don't be daft.
