    Puts things into perspective

"The meeting of the top two sides at Old Trafford on Sunday saw a Manchester United line-up which had cost £119.6m to assemble draw with Chelsea's £147.9m of starting talent. Yet the best side Benítez could pick, including the injured Xabi Alonso and Mohamed Sissoko, cost £59m."

    Lets have a whip round

"If Gerrard continues to play up front, leaving this lack of creativity and intelligence in Midfield, the season WILL be over by Xmas."

I still don't think we'll finish in the top 4 this season."

Yeah but I thought it was a fatuous comparison they did on Sky where I first saw that about the cost of the two teams. Unlike Chelsea who had no homegrown players in their team, Man United's line-up included Scholes, Giggs and Neville, all of whom cost nothing but are worth millions (it's the same as LFC and Gerrard and Carra of course). I'm tempted to say that it shows that Sky 'know the price of everything and the value of nothing'.

I appreciate you're making a deeper point. I just wanted to get that off my chest.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Neil, the club needs some Harvest Gold, I'm sure you could sing us a song about it

Comes A Time when Everbody's Rockin' On The Beach but, although Long May You Run, Time Fades Away and Freedom becomes Unplugged. At the moment This Note's For You but Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Rust Never Sleeps and next thing you're Landing On Water. The club is stuck in Old Ways and Sleeps With Angels but getting the Hawks and Doves to give us some Silver and Gold might risk our Ragged Glory so that After The Goldrush we'll be left Living With War like a Dead Man with A Broken Arrow.

I think that sums up my feelings best.

Reflects worse on them than us. United's outlay included £18m for Michael bloody Carrick - now THAT really puts it into perspective

                You'd think that but no, I haven't.

I will no doubt do it again though!

Cheers. There can only be room for one LFC/Neil Young obsessive on this forum. Possession being 9/10ths of the law, it's back to the shadows for me.
