Greatest YNWA ever?

one of the best football nights ever, I was in the main stand just near the press box. The sheer wall of noise coming from the Kop was just incredible. I've never been to a game like it. That night along with the celebrations in the ground will live with me forever. The final, well that's a different story, I've always said it was the best night of my life.

That was my sift time in the Kop. and what a night to get into the kop. Think I was 6 rows from the front right behind where Garcia Scored. My voice was gone before I got into the ground from all the singing in the Albert. An unforgettable night. In a strange kind of way, would have liked to have heard what the kop was like from outside too, it seemed from the kop when I was looking around that the whole stadium and not just the kop was singing in tandem, at one stage I kind pinched myself and looked around the stadium and the whole ground was clapping at the same time, ive enver witnessed that before. didnt hear the chelsea fans once during the whole match from the kop.

Good one, but for me the Best YNWA was the one sung by the Kop in Dec 1999 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the arrival of Shankly

Chelsea probably was the best rendition at Anfield, but you are right Istanbul was as Aldo put it "From the heart" and has to go down in history as the best & unlikely to ever be matched.

That rendition of YNWA in Istanbul was unique, special and even a little strange. Aside from the fact that we rarely sing YNWA at half time, and that we rarely sing the full version without ole' Gerry's accompniament.

It wasn't really enthusiastic as such. It was as heartfelt a version I have ever heard sung; tinged with a little despair and hope all at the same time; trying to lift ourselves in some sort of defiance; but without ever being fully defiant.

There have been many other renditions that have been great; perhaps greater. But that YNWA was very, very special for it's own unique reasons and it brings a tear to my eye, thinking about it.

Bazza, you were with us in the Albert before the game weren't you? What a piss up and what an atmosphere in the ground....without a doubt the greatest I've ever experienced.

The last ten minutes were also the most nervous I've ever been. When Gudjohnsen had that chance I didn't see it as I just went down on the floor thinking it was game over. When the whole stadium erupted after his miss it was the greatest ever feeling.

Unforgetable night for me, on a par with Istanbul.

yeah it was by a country mile the best atmosphere ive ever experienced.
Had booked and paid for a holiday in Barcelona with my bird, months in advance couldnt get out of it without ending the relationship lol. just so happened the holiday was during the final, but who would have thought we would have made it so far. Ahh well, its a date ill always keep free in future. Lesson learned.
