    Overreaction

I am fed up of overreactions...the press would have you believe we were woeful and here I have seen people say sack rafa!!! Good decision that would be I just hope our new owners won;t be such drama queens. I am so glad for a comfortable win. I know we have not exactly set the world alight but consider the facts:

    Last 11 competitive games
    Won 8
    Drawn 2
    Lost 1
    For 20
    Against 7

Added to that we have had 8 clean sheets in the last 9.

Christ just you wait till we hit a bit of form

Its as I said earlier we have played well in the league in only three or four games yet we are equal 3rd on pts. That's what is really annoying. With a bit better play we'd have been challenging the top two.

I think most of us is disappointed that the players hasn't given 100% in some games.

It's totally unacceptable for a player playing for us not to give 100% in every game.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

just because players are not playing well it does not mean they are not trying

Nail on head, at the likes of Goodison, the Emirates and in particular Old Trafford i dont' think you can the players gave 100% which is absolutely disgraceful, every game they should be giving in thier all but particularly in them type of fixtures.
Hope they've had a good look at themselves and won't be letiing that happen again.

We've got our last CL game until the new year on Tuesday, and we can put a reserve team out for that for what it matters now.

I don't think there are any more international dates for a while.

We've got to play Arsenal in the Carling Cup, but we've otherwise just got league matches to worry about between now and the new year. I think we might be able to start showing what are capable of now. I bloody hope so.

Yep its very poor this year, very poor. However we should really be at least 6 pts better off than we are.

The problem seems to be that for many its impossible to make criticisms without going the whole hog and assuming the answer is a sacking.

I've certainly criticised some of Rafa's decisions this season, but at the same time I argued against him being sacked when someone demanded it.

It's sad that its so hard to critically discuss issues without it all being down to the question of to sack or not to sack.

                      Sign of the times perhaps.

Yes, its obviously an overreaction is state 'sack Rafa' - that's sheer lunancy. But we have been woeful this season, that's clear. Portsmouth was real woe and still recent. However today was great, yes, and i hope that's a real turning point.

Your facts are a little shady as they take in two CL games and two Carling cup games, the later a competition i loathe. You also conviently start accumulating 'facts' after the Man U debacle.

The 'facts' of the last 11 league games read...

                        Won 5
                        Drawn 3
                        Lost 3

                        Which is hardly fantastic.

Its the league form people are bemoaning. It's the bread and butter, the one we've gone longest without. No 19 is still beyond our grasp and this when we started the season with so much expectancy.

Just giving this thread some realism is all.

Also today was our... first goal away from home in 569 minutes, or nine hours and 29 minutes. - BBC SPORT.

That is a woeful fact. Critism has been fair this season whether it be on boards like this or in the press. Calls for sackings are obviously not.

OK an update. I did not conveniently start accumulating facts after the manc game it was intentional. I intentionally stated that since that game we had not actually performed as badly as people were stating at that time. So to do so again (but taking your point about other competitions), I will intentionally state that since the Manc game our league form has been:

                              P 9
                              W 6
                              D 2
                              L 1
                              F 17
                              A 4

Added to that, since the Arsenal game we have gone 6 league games without conceding.

And once again I will say that when we hit form (because there is still more to come) then we will be pretty good!

What people did conveniently forget earlier was the fact that we had players of who many had high expectation, i.e. Pennant, Bellamy, Kuyt, Gonzales still trying to settle in. Pennant and Bellamy's confidence was taking a hit, and in Bellamy's case he also had that ridiculous court case over his head. Now they are starting to play and Bellamy in particular is having a big impact in the results. We also had many of our hardest away games all together, all at the sart, at a time when these players were still settling in, This distorted how good/bad we really were.
