If we would have been able to compete in the transfer market then Moores would never have sold out. If we would have been able to build our new stadium without taking big loans then Moores would never have sold out.

With our new owners(if the takeover goes through) then we wouldn't be in the same position as Arsenal and they MUST qualify for the CL EVERY season or they will make a big loss and would get trouble to pay for the stadium.

Rafa can now build up his team and take the time he wants knowing that one bad season isn't a disaster for the club.

Some of you 80's fans might not appreciate what we were about pre-1975, but will someone agree with me, ****ing Dubai?

I go way before 1975 in terms of being a fan, but I'm all for this proposal. Anyway, what's wrong with Dubai? I've been there a couple of times on business and stayed in the flash Jumeirah Beach Hotel. I couldn't see any downside - apart from the fact that they don't allow betting at the Nad Al Sheba racecourse. And who can forget the lovely LFC fan Kirsty Gallagher in Sky One's Kirsty Does Dubai?

Its somewhat of a pity that things have come to this - but we do not choose the times we live in - all we can do is make the most of the time we are given. Unfortunately, foreign investment has become a necessary evil in the premiership, and it's either sign up, or become trapped in the mire of mediocrity. LFC has a fabulous tradition of being a family old school club, and that's one of the reasons that Iove it. Those values will inevitably become somewhat lost in the proposed expansion, but in today's capitalist world, said values get you nowhere in terms of success, or at least consistent success.

Am I happy about the takeover/investment.... Not Really. Am I sensible enough to realise that one must move with the times.... YES.

Furthermore, with the availability of cash, and influx of better players it means that the scum will never get near our impressive and unmatched tally of league titles. For that alone it will be worth it.

Disagree entirely. What's wrong with Dubai anyway? Would you rather we never built a new stadium, were unable to compete in the transfer market, and eventually went bust due to our ever growing mountain of debt?

It is the fans which are the heartbeat of any club and as such it really does not matter who the owners are. In any case I understand that the head dubai dude is a liverpool fan anyway.

If Steve Morgan was a trillion billlionaire and bought the club would you still be saying that we were selling out? I doubt it, it is only because they are foreign, which is just plain unfair....In my opionion anyway

can you expand on your specific problem with it being Dubai? its hard to agree or disagree from what you've put so far

Yeah ultimately you would have to say we are selling out, but we're not barcelona, the fans don't own the club and never did though we'd like to think so. So it's one businessman selling to another, I can't get too sentimental about that even if the Moores family has had a long involvement with the club.

Okay it would be great if it was someone with a closer connection to liverpool, you'd feel more comfortable about it. But I was never too impressed with Steve Morgan, or at least what I'd heard about him, tbh he just didn't seem like he had enough money to make a real difference.

Also I'm always a little scared that any US investors would shaft the fans and club for a quick buck - I live in the US and they think of clubs differently here, they are franchises pure and simple. **** the fans, **** the city, let's merchandize it to death and if it starts losing money let's abandon it.

So if we want to move forward as a club and mix it with the big boys we do need a lot of financial muscle. These arab lads have a RIDICULOUS amount of money. This means they don't need a quick return on the investment to keep the banks or their shareholders happy. This is a good thing. Also, from what I have read they have shown in their other investments that they prefer marquee brands - and they don't try and mess with them too much - this is also good. We need somebody who respects our name and tradition as a club, is prepared to fund an expensive new stadium, take on $80 million in debt, pay Moores a tidy sum and still have cash left over when Rafa wants to go shopping. These guys seem like they fit the bill. Fair play to Parry and Moores for holding on until they found what they felt was the best investor for the club.

To survive one has to adapt. If that means taking investment then so be it. If that means its with the Maktoum family then so be it. You talk of the 70's extra. Its irrelevant. Liverpool have to move with the times. It's not selling out, its evolving. Football has changed. It's about money. You could say football has sold its soul but the heart of Liverpool still remains and will not be changed or diminished by the influx of money.
