On a separate note, last Saturday I saw my mate who was one of the architects who worked on our new stadium (most of you will have read my threads on KT in the past). Although he no longer works for AFL he still drinks with some of their senior guys and he has said - again - that the stadium is "all systems go" (his words not mine).

Interestingly, AFL have also recently designed the new Mohamed Bin Zayed Stadium at Abu Dhabi in the UAE:

Those of us who live in glorious Anfield have long suspected that a hotel will be built on the site of the large 1200 pupil Anfield Comprehensive School on Priory Road which is next door to our new stadium site - just across the road in fact from our new main stand. The school will vacate the site in 12-18 months for a brand new site half a mile away. Watch this space.

Ever since we first announced our new stadium idea it's been common knowledge round these parts that LFC want the school site for something - probably a large posh hotel + car parking space for all the VIPs and it's only yards from our new main executive entrance and stand. Interestingly within a few months of our new stadium intentions being announced it was proposed that the school should merge with another comprehensive half a mile away and form one of those new academies.........to be built on that other schools site. The government require these new academies to be sponsored by the private sector - the principal sponsor of the new academy is 'Granada Learning' which at the time was owned by ITV who at that time (and still now) own 9.9% of LFCs shares.

Just been told that the DICs group are actively looking for commercial property to purchase in the Ellesmere Port area.

Sorry, can't provide any more than that but it does seem like it's all systems go for the takeover.

Ellesmere Port is where I live (well, just outside). It's actually quite a nice place once you're out of the Town Centre. The other issue, I guess, is that it's well connected - 30 mins to Anfield by train or road, easy access to the M53 and M56 etc. Perhaps they are going to base the LFC stores new distribution centre there as the current one in bootle keeps getting raided !! Can't see they will want to open a shop in 'The Port', as there's already one 10 minutes away in Chester City Centre.

Perhaps this is the first stage of ensuring that people who order kit / memorabilia actually get it within a reasonable period of time !!

We park at the garage at Priory Lane for home games, and the guy who runs it confirmed he will still be there when the new stadium is built, so I don't know how that will fit in with a luxury hotel

It certainly looks promising, but I won't be celebrating until the deal's done!!!

Why celebrate. We are selling the club to a foreign buyer, I know we need to to keep up with the jones etc etc but I still feel very sad that this is happening.

Just wait for the prawn sandwich brigades to arrive, and the corporate mass bookings by middle eastern companies buying blocks of 50 seats on the "famous Kop" to give away as prizes in raffles and competitions.
