    This Guthrie lad

Heard good reports on him and Rafa seems to be an admirer.

Bit unusual that he was on Utd's books until he was 13 but was released and Liverpool scouts immediately took him and we signed him up.
Wouldn't it be great if Utd came to regret letting him go?

He's 19 so maybe a loan move to a Championship club or something would be ideal for him?

Would be nice to have another player from the Academy make the grade with the First Team in the future, nothing better.

I've not seen much of him so tonight's game will prove interesting.

I hope he's a better prospect than Potter was.

From his cameos against Birmingham and Wigan he looks to be a creative sort of midfielder and isn't afraid to get stuck in.
Obvioulsy can't compared him to the great Steven Gerrard but he LOOKS(from short appearances in 1st team) to have a similar style.
            Time will tell.

Be very interesting to see how he gets on tonight if and when he plays.

When he gets onto the football pitch, he belongs. That's what I like about him.

You've got high hopes for this lad haven't you Al. When do you think he'll be in a position to realistically challenge for a first team place (Premiership etc.)?

In our squad thats a tough question. He has Gerrard Momo and Xabi to get past, and they are all youngish players especially Xabi and Momo.

But I think this kid will definitely make it as a very good top flight footballer, even if he ends up forced to move on to get his chance.

I think if he was at another club he'd be knocking on the door anytime soon.

I've not seen tons of him but sometimes a player really leaps out at you. I REALLY like him.

It's a bit hard on the lad to say that at 19 you can't compare him to Gerrard. Gerrard at 19 wouldn't stand any comparison to himself now. Hope he plays tonight so we can get a look.

He starts, and I agree with the SG comment. First time I saw him I wasn`t that impressed, but I think he played RD.

Is he family or friend of the family Al? Or do you just really rate him? Didn't play in the Youth cup if I remember rightly wasn't it Flynn and Barnett or something in the middle for that?
I think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Robbie Savage 8/11/06

Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw him for the ressies a year or so ago and thought he looked like someone who could make it.
Glad to see that I still have the eye for a player.

Oh ffs i'm not comparing him to Gerrard, just his style of play mirrors
Gerrard's in terms of wanting to get on the ball, spray it about and create.
