He is the best left back we got, but still a very average defender.

On previous seasons i'd agree, but he's been a real eye-opener this season. He's a key player for us - i'd have scoffed if you told me that a year ago.

Let's just leave it at, his positional nous means we can have a solid and consistent back four. Position is probably the key attribute for a defender, and when he's not playing Hyypia get dragged too far left and you could drive a bus through us. Riise knows his job and does it well.

Offensively, he has a cracking shot!

However, i must commend you on your unfavoured patriotism. Irish/Aussie folk take note.

I'll be at Celtic if we get them. As for the other one Spain/Portugal and possibly AEK.

All tough opponents IMHO, well apart from AEK or Lille, but I'm confident we could beat all of them with the exception of Barca who I think would be the toughest tie for us.

I think Bellamy brings the best out of Pennant. His pace means that there is an alternative for him rather than the go wide and try to whip it in. Previously he has had to try running inside when the wing is congested and often lost the ball which has been one of the many things harming his confidence. Was good to see him play well.

I thought Paletta was OK on the deck but shocking in the air. Unsurprisingly his partnership with Agger lacked authority and neither seemed ready to take the lead. I think the experience will be good to both of them.

Riise looked like he could of done without having to play today.

Peltier needs to calm down when crossing. Other wise I thought he did pretty well.

Nice for Fowler to get his first CL goals. Not much else from him - so I expect we won't se him playing much more frequently.
