I don't think he needs to beef up necessarily, just be more aggressive in the way he plays.

Agger has been a very classy player. But what about Palletta, he seemed to get everything wrong last night. Going for crosses and missing them, leaving unmarked players behind him. All sorts of rubbish. Just looked way out of his depth.

I actually thought he tended to get in good positions for interception but then missed them particularly in the air. His tackling was good. He seemed nervous on the ball. I wouldn't be surprised to see him given a loan period soon as he clearly needs match experience. However we kept Agger hanging around having very few games last season and the training seems to have done him the world of good so maybe he just needs more time.

I like Agger and I think in general this season he has done well. I think the fact that he has marked Drogba well is a sign that he really isn't in need of that much more muscle to be a great player for us. I think he was protecting himself last night - not going in too hard.

He's a big fella anyway is Agger. You should try standing next to him Marky

I think hes filled out quite well. He did look a bit lightweight when we bought him but hes deffo beefed up. His style of play doesnt need or want a big bulky frame anyways. Imagine alan hansen trying to play the way he did, but with neil ruddocks body.

I have a problem imagining someone playing football with Neil Ruddocks body, full stop.

With all due respect Gaelic Football is nothing like normal football. Upper body strength is more important in Gaelic football, not so much so in normal football, where you are expected to cover *more* ground.

What i'm saying is a weights gain programme is a long term/summer activity(pre-season).

True they are very different sports but my point was that weights do not reduce speed. Of course the program would have to be different for association football as any program would be sports specific. Even marathjon runners and sprinters etc do specific weights programs.

Yes, but in this context Mark was inferring he should use weights to bulk up. And my argument is that will slow him down. All players in the league probably do some weights but with no intention of putting on mass.
