Not his greatest game but he's more confident looking these days, full of running and linked up well on occasions

Agreed. Some strange markings all round. Alonso had a poor first half but gets an 8??? Pennant played well and was very progressive.

i only watched the second half and thought pennant played well. he had a lot of ball and didn't mess anything up which i noticed.

not sure really what he has to do for some people to give him a good report.

I would suggest you are in the minority in your views on Pennant today. I don't think he is a great winger but he played well today IMO

I'm typing these before I read the other ratings in the thread so lets see if they tally.

Reina 8. Very important save at 0-0 and great distribution.

Finnan 8. Excellent today - providing width and support down the right.

Carra 7. Usual committment plus a goal.

Agger 7. Comfortable afternoon as Carragher had Mcbride.

Riise 5. Trying hard but it's not happening.

Pennant 7. Best performance so far albeit against a ****e team. Plenty of crosses - faded in second half though.

Gerrard 7. Quiet by his standards and should be removed from penalty duties immediately.

Alonso 7. Quietly effective - plenty of chats with Rennie over Brown's antics

Garcia 5. God he frustrates but what a header!

Bellamy 7. Worked hard but should have scored the headed chance.

Kuyt 6. Worked hard but that's it. I thought he was gonna be prolific here but having watched him closely - I don't think he's clinical enough.

A mention for Gonzales who looked confident and scored when he came on.

Overall - a good performance but we should have won about 8-0.

Agger got two assists he deserves more. JP was also really good in the first half in particular. Again, he deserves a higher rating.
