    some academy gossip

lucky enough to be in the company of 2 people from the academy this weekend.

    mentioned was the following:

Heighway is a gonner - sooner or later - has a definite severance package on the table and is hanging out for more cash. just a matter of time before he moves on.

malcolm elias will slip seamlessly into his seat

if money becomes less of an object rafa is prepared to pay up to £20 million for a pair of southampton players - 1 is gareth bale and the other a striker who is currently injured. (sounded far fetched to me but bale certainly looks a prospect)

also said - which made me laugh - lfc's purse strings are currently so tight that you cant order a platter of sandwiches at the academy or melwood without rick parry's signature - pretty soon well be able to order as many plates of sheep's eyes as anyone wants.

    Cheers.

Is the striker David McGoldrick, perhaps? Or Leon Best?

And its about time they gave Rafa a say in the Academy.

ged tried actively to get rid of heighway a few years ago and they (the club) were having a look at brian kerr at the time when he was irish youth manager.
Parry is a clown. En Rafa que confiamos

I'm assuming it was that centre forward who scored against us in the FA Youth Cup last season at Anfield. Can't remember his name but he looked very good. Weren't Chelsea interested at the time?

Think it is the McGoldrick lad........has bagged a hatfull for their reserve team last season....

Also...seeings as though the ex-Souhtampton youth team scout is now on our books maybe we might be in a prime position to exploit his contacts....

i think heighway was only a matter of time. rafa needs some control over what goes on in the acadamy.
Just look at the face: it's vacant, with a hint of sadness. Like a drunk who's lost a bet.

bale looks a top talent, whether liverpool standard? i don't know

he's always impressed at wales, and didn't even look out of his depth against Brazil

It's not Nathan Dyer (?) I think he was linked with us around the same time as Walcott was.

We must be in a minority not to have any old school sitting on the bench on match days these days, however, I don't see any of them making too much of a success elsewhere though, McMahon in the US perhaps?

If they are not good enough, then sentiment shouldn't play a part.
