With all the Gerrard to Chelsea stories in 2 consecutive summers (04,05) did it/has it increased your liking of the skipper or did you feel let down by the way he conducted himslef over the whole affair?

For me it's strenghtened my admiration for Stevie as a player and person, he was honest throughout, made no secret of the fact he was a very close to leving the Club he loves but ultimately he just couldn't do it.

I think the reaction towards himby mots Liverpool fans when he handed the transfer request in was understandable, it's very rare we have a player with such brilliance and committement to LFC and also be a Liverpool fan and a local.
Ok the shirt burning incident was idiotic to say the least but that aside i just think people were just finding it hard to come to terms with the fact we were on the verge of losing our best player and our hero.

I was really devastated during that whole affair, and I was equally relieved at 9am the next morning.

Once the dust settled, though, I found it a bit harder to warm to him and I’ve never quite held him in the same esteem since.

Gerrard said himself that he wanted a deal sorted out as soon as possible after our CL win. Parry went on holiday instead of sorting a deal out with Gerrard. Gerrard thought that we didn't want him so he asked if he could leave.

He changed his mind and stayed.

I don't think Gerrard ever mentioned Parry going on holiday. I don't believe Parry going on holiday had any bearing on the situation

SG's actions did make me pissed off with him for a while. Although he didn't leave, he was obviously very close to it. It a bit like your Mrs. admitting to thinking about having an affair but in the end deciding not to.
However, time has healed my SG wounds & I love him as much as ever.

Utter, utter bollocks that, although I don't expect any different from you. The players were all ****ing off on holiday on the Friday following the European Cup parade including Gerrard who was attending the wedding of his agent that weekend. The same agent who was on honeymoon for the next 3-4 weeks and thus also not available for contract talks.

Still, don't let that get in the way of having a go at the Chief Executive. After all, you have demonstrated repeatedly that you know more about running a football club than he does.
