    Leyton Baines(again)

What a marvellous performance once again from Leyton Baines tonight playing against a very quick and direct player in Theo Walcott, fair enough Walcott's still a very young chap and didn't play at all well tonight but that's mainly down to Baines preventing him from playing well.

I honestly don't see a weakness in his game, he's sharp in the tackle, he passes accurately, he's quick, he defends well, he overaps well, he can put in a good cross, he can sure has hell hit one and he has great stamina.

I know we have Warnock still and i do rate the lad actually but it doesn't seem Rafa does that much, sure he stopped Blackburn getting him but even still he's feature very littles this season, urelio looks good sometimes, other times shockingly bad and i don't think he's a natural left back.
Leyton Baines would provide Riise with excellent cover.

Don't forget we've signed Insua. Who's also a left back and rated highly.

      Insua is what ? 17 ?

Baines could challenge Riise now. I would not mind bringing in another left back, definitely not Baines as he is young and english and looks a real prospect.

...but he would be costly, wouldn't he ?

        I'm all for signing Baines.

But Insua is meant to be very highly rated, and a chance of breaking into the first team by next season.

Not sure if he has international clearance yet, but it's not a work permit - he doesn't need one as he has an EU (I think Italian) passport as well as Argie.

It's just a formality yeah, his player registration coming through with FIFA/UEFA whatever...

Not sure what the deal is with this given the transfer windows and all that bollocks.

I do rate the kid, like to have us sign him and that Micah richards, our defence would b rock solid and have a real cutting edge to it. Imagine, richards, carra, agger and baines as our defence, plenty of pace, aggression and also a has a long term look to it.
