Sense of Invevitability

Don't really understand the point of this post at the moment to be honest, especially seeing as we're coming into a great run of form now.Originally posted by ElRobbie View PostI know there's still a lot of games left this season and its still mathematically and physically possible to win trophies and I know the players can't feel like this or it wouldn't be worth turning out every week, but..
Is it just me or does anyone else feel a sense of invevitability as a fan about this season already?
It's not even Christmas and we're already 16 points off the pace locked in a battle 3rd/4th place (AGAIN!), we've got Barcelona in the Champions League and Arsenal in the FA Cup, two very difficult ties which we'll do well to progress from. Also with the possible takeover looming and entire future of the club up in the air it seems to me this season could turn out to be a nothing season unless we surprise an awful lot of people?
Forgive the negative post but I just really can't see this season being a success at the moment.
There's a rather long list of positives to look at:
-We're in the last 16 of the champs league
-We're in the quarters of the Carling Cup
-Still to play in the FA Cup
-We've already got the Charity Shield in the trophy room
-We're in our best position come Christmas for a long time, and we've had a ridiculously hard first half of the season, the second half realistically can only get better.
-We get the chance to atone for the **** results against Man U, Chelsea, Everton, Bolton, Arsenal
-We are still mathematically in with a shout for the title (although realistically, probably not), but second place could well be achievable
-We've got the Jan transfer window to come to bolster the squad, hopefully get a few new recruits
-We've got the returns of Sissoko and Kewell to come, which I think will really help us in those tough games we've got to come. Although Gonzalez is starting to look the player we thought we we're getting, so any competition in that place can only be good.
-And finally we'll hopefully have the prospect of being able to spend big in the summer, and try and mount one decent run for the title.
So there's my list, seems better than yours to me.Last edited by Morph; 16-12-06, 10:46 PM.Thomas Hicks Senior

Good shout. We are playing well, scoring goals and not letting any in. And work finishes for Xmas next week for a fortnight of food, booze, footy and fun. Cheer up people!
