But with that £80m, he could've bought a few more TOP players, and a few more cheaper backups. At least then we'd have the first XI sorted. He's built the squad before the first XI which i see as a bit odd. Maybe it's down to the rotation policy he uses.

I'll give you an example....£7m on Pennant, £6m on Bellamy, £3m on Gonzalez.

Wouldnt you rather have spent that money on ONE TOP PLAYER who will walk into the first team, week in, week out? I would.

Ok so you would want Rafa to abandon everything he knows and start a new philosophy on football, dont use a squad, nor dont explore different avenues tactically. Dont have different types of players for different situations.
Im really supprised so many are still so naive to Rafas tactics on here.

Yeah, would agree with that to an extent.
Although, motivation in certain circumstances cant be questioned since Rafa arrived. Champions League and Cup competitions spring to mind.

I don't think this point is fair to be honest. Our attacking 6 of Kuyt, Bellers, Stevie, Alonso, Kewell / Gonzo, Pennant isn't very far off than Chelsea's and Manure's attacking 6. There's a fine line between success and failure and i've always stated that we lack character away from home, that's has been our downfall ... but it seems we're starting to correct that flaw.

Kuyt consistantly makes something out of nothing for you then? Gonzalez and Pennant? Compare to the way Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo, Rooney, Saha, (and soon Larsson) can come up with individual moments of brilliance that change games and we're obviously some way behind.

It's not just about better players it's about different types of players. Alonso is as good as any of those Man Utd players, but he's a different kind of player - his individual skill alone rarely changes games, he requires others to finish things off for him. Someone like Giggs, Scholes, Rooney etc can just have everyone else playing **** but have the ball at their feet and produce something on their own.

The only players we have that can do that regularly are Garcia and Gerrard. It places more pressure on us to perform as a team unit and means when top team's don't allow us to play our game we struggle to find the back of the net.
