    Bruce Grobelaar.

Was a Rhodesian fighter wasn't he?
Ate 60 men in the war zone - and he was handcuffed!

Lindsay's "goal" in that game would have been allowed these days. Someone else was in an offside position - Keegan? - when Lindsay lashed his shot into the far top corner, but the other player wouldn't have been considered "active" these days. Shame really as it was a great shot.

Tommy was the toughest in a league full of toughmen but Emlyn could dish it out as well, he broke Peter Osgoods leg before joining Liverpool and Osgood was lucky to walk again let alone play, He even used to pull out of tackles after that..can't blame him really.

Actually, I saw Emlyn Hughes make the hardest fair tackle I've ever seen in my life. It was so bone-jarring I've never forgotten it. We were playing Derby County at home and Francis Lee was about to shoot towards the Kop goal about 12 yards out when Hughes dived in with a perfectly fair block tackle at the precise moment that Lee's boot connected with the ball. Lee was sent flying through the air and Hughes stopped what was a likely goal. Hughes was an immense player.

He served with C squadron the Rodesian SAS regiment. Not to be trifled with.

In my time, Case, Souness and Mcmahon, a certain Julian Dicks also took very few prisoners certainly before he "played" for us.
Case and Mcmahon were uncompromising players who probably wouldnt spend much time on the pitch these days but Souness was cleaner and harder and would still be a great player today even with all the pansies.
