No reason for this game to be called off.

In fairness to the Manc lover Riley, I'm quite sure he wasn't solely responsible for the decision. Seconds before it was announced he was shown in discussion with Parry, Rafa, Wenger and David Dein. I'd wager the decision was unanimous, however reluctant.

        Cheers mate.
Visability was pretty poor to say the least but for me it was always going to be safety concerns for fans that got the game called off. I don't think the players would have had too much trouble but fans safety could in theory be a risk. Also Tranmere, which as the crow flies is no more than 4 or 5 miles away was also called off.

To those who say the ref was overeacting, think about past tragedies the club has suffered. If playing tonight put fans even at the slighest of risks then the ref has made the correct choice. Its only a game after all.

Thats not how it's been reported on sky.Ref couldnt make out if he was seeing red or yellow apparently

              Spot on!

The pictures tell their own story regardless of what some peope on here are saying. They couldn't have waited all night for the fog to clear and a decision had to be made.

I dissagree, but your treading on very thin ice by your statement as to the incedences you refer to, had nothing to do with the weather. You are in some way implying that beacause some of us couldn't see the reason why the fog was so extreme as to call the game off ,are being rather bliase and forgetful of some of the worst tragedies in sporting history.Fck right off!

Total over reaction. There is no suggestion in the guy's post that he is saying that the tragedies of the past had anything to to with the weather. He just said that if there was even the slightest of risk to fans then calling off the match was the correct decision. That's his opinion and he is entitled to it, just as you are entitled to disagree with him, but telling him to F off over it is out of order imo.

Like I said, you are entitled to your opinion, just as he is, I just thought it was quite an agressive response, that's all.

The final decision is not the refs. It's the stadium managers. The ref can say whatever he likes but he has no call on safety grounds for the crowd etc. Ref only plays a part in the final decision making process.
