Well I couldnt see any stewards or coppers on the otherside of the pitch so guess that makes no odds.

Yeh they do. Its a joint decision in reality. Refs in charge of pitch and players, safety manager the crowd inside stadium and stadium, police cover crowd inside and outside. Unless they all agree a game won't go ahead.Originally posted by johnp View PostDo the police not get involved too?
Dunno why I thought that........

I agree. I did set off or I wouldn't have got there otherwise but I waited until about 20 past 6. Got to Utting Ave and Chris text to say it was off so ended up just doing a U-turn (where I shouldnt have) and going back. They should've made the decision AGES before that! Bloody ridiculous.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostI don't know what the ref is playing at to be honest, this game was never going to be played. I live in Liverpool & the fog is pretty thick, so bad that I didn't even bother setting off for the game as it was always going to be off in my view. I feel sorry for those fans that have travelled and I feel it could have been called off far earlier. I got in from work at 6 o'clock & I didn't think there was any realistic chance of the game going ahead.RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFAEL BENITEZ!

Maybe cos noone would've wanted to wait til then to find out! OR waited an extra half hour to kick off when it could've gone to pens and we could've been there all night! Then had to get home in ****ty weather!Originally posted by Marky18 View PostWhat i don't understand is why didn't they do a pitch inspection at say 7.35, nearer to kick off? Even if the game had to be delayed for half an hour or so, still better than calling the whole thing off.
This is a situation which both teams could very much do without.RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFA! RAFAEL! RAFAEL BENITEZ!

everyone's disappointed that the games off but better that than play the match and lose on a controversial line call because the officials didn't see it properly.
Can't see why people who weren't going anyway are getting so upset about it. Several people who were going to the game have said it was a sensible decision, they should be the ones who are most disappointed.
We can all look through sky's lenses (if we've got sky
) and say it looks OK to play but the people making the decision are at the ground so you can't really argue with them based on what Sky show you. In my opinion anyway.

It was the right decision as Chris has said. In this day and age when people are concerned more with safety no one is going to risk it.

Top post.
The ones traveling to the stadium are also the ones who have forked out the cash and shouldn't be expected to have a poor view so the tv viewer can watch itI know I'll often stop and think about them, In My Life, I love you more - 96

This is true. Fair play to the Ref for going to the back row of the Kop to see the view.Bill Oddie, Bill Oddie, put your hands all over my body.
