I believe Gary Mcallister would have been able to inspire our reserves. I think he is just an amazing bloke.

Gary Ablett is just a **** who can't seem to win games
Id rather bleed with cuts of love then live without any scars

He was first choice wasn't he? But turned it down for family reasons.

I think this is worse than usual

"Competitive" matches played 7 Won 1 Drew 1 Lost 5
"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

Abletts job is more to get people ready to step up. The teams generally consist of youth players, players coming back from injury and Dudek. I wouldnt be arsed if they win or lose really. Its the approach and training which is more imprtant to Rafa and apparently, Ablett and him think on the same lines.

I said the same thing a couple of months back.
He just strikes me as an unspirational type of person to have as manager of the reserves, there are some pretty decent young players in our reserve side and yet, we can hardly seem to scrape a win, despite the fact that most of them were in the FA youth Cup winning side of last season.
If things kept going the way they are going up to the end of the season, id seriously consider replacing him.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

                * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

The most important thing regarding the reserves is the development of youngsters. LFC have always proned the development of their youths over results at that stage. It also provides senior players such as Robbie a way to retain their fitness. Serves no purpose winning titles after titles of winning reserve leagues if these guys aren't fit for first team duty in the end. It does increase players' competitive edge if they take it seriously though.

The point is that in the 70s and 80s we won or nearly won the reserve league every season and players were contanntly coming through. Now it is not happening

We did pretty well last year. This year's effort is very disappointing.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.

I feel like Rafa appoin ted ablet mainly due to his ties with Liverpool. Wasnt over excited about his signing myself, obviously would prefered Garry Mac, but wasnt to be.

the reserves are imoa to get 1st teamers match fit, youngsters half ready(another step up) for the 1st team, but who am I, who cares what results they get, if it was the youth teams getting bad results and playing bad then i'd be worried
