We had a look at him as he came for a trial at Melwood according to this article. Now Celtic are favorites to sign him.
Hearts could beat Celtic to Copil
Hearts could yet win the signing race for the highly-rated 17-year-old Romanian Dumitru Copil.
The teenager was quoted in the Daily Record saying that a January move to Celtic was "90% complete".
But, Copil's agent, Adrian Stefanescu of the Stellar group agency, told BBC Scotland: "The offer from Hearts is bigger than the one from Celtic.
"I think Dumitri will choose Hearts. I spoke with him and he likes very much the city and the people that he met."
Copil - rated at £250,000 - is highly regarded in Romania and has been likened to the legendary Georghe Hagi.
And his coach at Atletico Arad, Arpad Cserneczky, thinks Copil is one of the biggest talents in his native land.
He told the Daily Record: "He is like Hagi, but Frank Lampard would be the closest British equivalent to him in terms of playing style and aggression."
What I want more than anything now is to play for Celtic
Dumitru Copil
Copil had intimated that he was set for a move to Celtic, having spent time in Glasgow as well as with Hearts and Liverpool.
"There were offers from Hearts and Liverpool, but I have decided to go to Glasgow," Copil explained to the Daily Record.
"I really enjoyed my time at Hearts and I wanted to become a member of that team after they showed such interest in me.
"But a week after the Hearts trial, Liverpool contacted me and I went there too.
"I liked Liverpool, but I still felt the best place to develop was at Hearts and then came the chance to go to Celtic.
"After spending time there I decided that Celtic were the best option for me," he added.
"What I want more than anything now is to play for Celtic, to have a good first year with them and to reach as high as I can get.
"I still have studies to complete and in an ideal world I would like to finish them but I have to give football my full commitment."
