Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

That wasn't the point of my post. I wouldn't expect anyone on here to deny that, i was more questioning the quality of that other forum. They seem to have a lot of posters but obviously some of it seems to be rubbish.

It's just one stupid poster. Every forum has them.

Not signing Ronaldo was a very expensive mistake.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

It blows my mind that people still dismiss Ronaldo as a showpony with no end product. It really goes to show that a lot of fans out there don't watch much football and base their opinions on some snippet they read in the Mirror a couple years back.

            Embarassing. Real embarassing.

In what way was was it a mistake? Did we have a serious opportunity to sign him but didn't? Or did we try within the limitations of what we had available to spend and were outbid by Man United who also had a feeder club-type agreement with Sporting Lisbon?

It's very loose to term it a "mistake" in my opinion.

It would have been better if we'd signed him but some (in fact, many) things are outside the control of the club.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I agree with you. The lad is a horrible tw@t but there's no doubting his phenomenal ability. There isn't one manager on this planet who wouldn't have Ronaldo in their side. He is by far the best player in his position in world football and if anyone can shoot the scum to yet another title it's him.

Comparing Pennant to Ronaldo is like comparing a lada with a ferrari.

At the time, 12 million for Ronaldo would've been a very risky transfer. We simply didn't have that kind of money to spend on a 18-19 year old*

*Hold on a second... ****, we signed Diouf for 10 million.

Lets be honest here guys..............it`s taken him a few years of prem football to get where he is now

BTW...............i`m not saying pennant will be at his level in 3 years

Diouf was 21 when he signed for Liverpool. Ronaldo was 18 when he signed for Man U. There is a difference.

Of course, signing Diouf was a mistake.

                        Agreed

He's matured in to a very good player and he's shaken off that 'show pony' tag. IMO that's what he was when he first arrived in the Prem, a show pony. Who can forget his 50+ step overs before crossing the ball.

You're right, there was a difference in age but if you look at Diouf's goalscoring record (as well as his disciplinary record off the pitch) in France before we signed him he was a huge risk at 10 million and one that back fired badly. Houllier knew Ronaldo was a top notch player but didn't move wquick enough by his own admission...unfortunately he moved like lightning to obtain the services of Mr spit machine.

True. Same with Pires when he turned up at Arsenal. Absolute wank then eventually settled in and raped the **** out of defences. Pennant will never be like that. I only hope that Gonzalez is gonna settle in and do the same as Ronaldo and Pires but I really cant see it.

hmm I see the point about confidence, but whilst pennant is a talented kid, Ronaldo is a world class talent and a real destructive force. Pennant is prem quality but Ronaldo is miles ahead of him in class and talent.
