      Ronaldo £12m, Saha £12m, Rooney £27m = £51m.

Aside from Sissoko, Reina and Alonso, i'd happily swap all of Rafa's signings for those 3.

We spend pretty big, Rafa alone has spent £80m. Aside from Rooney, the other two didnt cost fees that are beyond us.

      Difference is, we've bought badly.

Pennant, Kuyt, Gonzalez and Crouch cost the same as Rooney.

      I'd rather have Rooney.

            Rubbish.

So you would rather have Rooney instead of 2 strikers and 2 wingers? I'd love to seen your starting 11 and what about if Rooney got injured. Your talking out of your backside mate

Plus they are given the attacking freedom to express themselves on the pitch. One thing I adrmire about fergie is his approach to the attacking side of the game, he gives his players the freedom to express themselves, that, and the fact that they are gighly tallented individuals will always give them a good return. IMHO also, they are aslo the reason United are solid at the back this year becasue they retain the ball so well high up the pitch.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

              * After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Pointless to make statements like this without coming up with realistic suggestions.

Maybe a bit excessive but I agree with your general point there, we need a better class of player than the likes of Crouch, Gonzalez and Pennant certainly.

                        Totally agree.

When they attack, they really attack. It's frightening.

When we 'attack', 7 of our outfield players look on, while a team mate lobs a high ball foward to another team mate, and then watches disappointedly when 6 opposition players outnumber the one forward and take the ball of him...

Rooney was an example. An example of what you get, if you dont mill about with £7m here, and £6m there.

I dont mind the odd £2m and £3m, players to fill gaps.

But when we're spending £14m on Cisse, £7m on Pennant and £7m on Crouch, it's painful to say the least, because we all know that the combination of all three's contributions doesnt come remotely close to that of Rooney's for the mancs. Or a player of his class.

And Rooney's the top end of the price scale, Ronaldo was £12m, Robben was £12m, Van Persie wasnt far off that either. These are fees we can afford.

Yet, we end up with 3 or 4 £7m turkeys who piddle about for a year or two and then get sold for £2m and £3m....

Sorry mate, but that never has been, and never will be a title-winning (or even challenging) set of ingredients.
