Would you sign Cassano for £2.8m?

Real Madrid have valued Antonio Cassano at £2.8m, less than the £3.5m spent in January to bring the striker to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The ex-Roma man seems close to definitely ending his adventure with the Merengues, despite the player’s agent Giuseppe Bozzo reiterating that his client was eager to remain in Spain.

Real Madrid’s former President Florentino Perez had signed Cassano in January, when the Bari-born player moved from Roma in a £3.5m deal, but the Spanish giants may now consider the idea of accepting a £2.8m offer, according to the newspaper Marca.

The club is in fact ready to let the player leave following his latest exclusion from the team, after he was caught on camera imitating Coach Fabio Capello.

“Cassano is a good lad, but he sometimes acts without thinking,” said sporting director Predrag Mijatovic to the Periódico de Catalunya.

“We only want players on our side who are committed to this outfit. If someone does not understand this, we will have to look for another club that can offer more than Real Madrid,” added the former Fiorentina striker.

“We make the contracts and we respect them, and we ask our players to give their all on the pitch,” concluded Mijatovic.

The only Italian side who has shown an interest in Cassano’s services is Milan, although the Rossoneri do not seem keen on confirming the player’s £2.8m per-season deal. The striker, however, may agree to a lower wage in order to leave Spain, as there do not seem to be any margins to repair the rift with the club’s management.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

yes...for that price. Any more and it would be risky.

There is no denying he has sublime skill, and all he really needs is games. Its when he starts to sit on the bench that he becomes a problem.

We are crying out for someone with his skill.

id pull the trigger. I really think Rafa could harness his temper. Hes done well with Bellamy

                He's a bit of a trouble causer isn't he?

I don't know about these players. You always get the feeling that there mayble is one worth gambling on as they may just behave and prove to be some sort of inspriational signing, much like Cantona was at United in the 90's.

I think Bellamy was the gamble in the summer but he is begining to look like an astute piece of business. I don't know too much about Cassano but I don't think he is the 20 goal a season striker that we really need. For that kinda money though, he may well be worth a gamble.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

On talent alone, absolutely yes. The attitude thing is a big worry though and to be honest it is a moot point because I doubt Rafa would ever go for someone with that kind of mentality

would defo interest me for that kind of money. Has more talent in his left testicle than Pennant has in his whole body, and less than half the price. He is a nutter tho

Not a chance on this earth.

Typical, half-arsed, modern day prima-donna footballer. Loads of talent - very rarely produces - very poor attitude.

I'd at the very least meet with him and see what his attitude's actually like for myself. ****ing talented player and would suit the Prem.

Yes i would, highly talented and £2.8m gets you feck-all these days.

Rather chance it on someone with talent than the usual kind of wasters we normally sign (and usually at about three times that fee)

Would have no problem with that, not a prolific goal scorer though, and probably looks distinctly average along side Ronaldo, Raul and RVN.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
