really looking forward to seeing him in action for us, hope he does well and tbh a bit of a bargain for an experienced midfielder with his qualities.

    Welcome

He shouldn't player another game for us as far as i'm concerned.
I agree that he shouldn't play as what would happen if he was to do a knee or something in the game and missed the season!

it's interesting - I wonder what roys plans are. I've not seen enough of poulsen to comment but are we have a fair few different combos now.

          ---------------------Reina/Jones?----------------

Johnson/Kelly-----Carra/Skrtel---Agger/Kyrakios------Aurelio/insua??/hopefuly a new first choice with them as back up

          ------poulsen/lucas---gerrard/aquilani---

          Maxi/kuyt-------cole/gerrard---------jovanovic/babel--

          ----------------Torres/New signing----

With Gulasci/Wilson/Shelvey/Ngog/Pacheco and potentially Amoo? as 5 or 6 exciting youngsters coming through looking to provide cover and compete for those positions and hopefully being used in the europa to rest the key 7..... I am actually really excited about that -

by no means ideal, dream world you'd throw in mascher, a messi and a drogba say - but we ain't man city, and given how **** we ended up last season, how low I felt a month or so ago, I think we've got into a great position. Just get the left back and striker needed - and no more players leave and bring it on

              10 more facts

Was originally an attacking midfielder until he left Denmark to join Schalke in 2002. He had scored 10 goals in 45 games for FC Copenhagen

Announced himself to the world with a man of the match performance against France during the 2002 World Cup. Poulsen marked legend Zinedine Zidane out of the game as the Danes eliminated Les Bleus, and his absence through suspension was sorely felt in the second round defeat to England

              His transfer fees total £14m

Was the first player to be named Danish Player of the Year for two consecutive years after winning the award in both 2005 and 2006. Also won the Danish Under-21 award in 2001.

Won the UEFA Cup with Sevilla in 2007, after they beat Espanyol on penalties in the Final after a 2-2 draw.

In the 2004 European Championships, television replays showed that Italian forward Francesco Totti had spat on Poulsen during a match. Totti received a three-match ban and was forced to issue a public apology, though he claimed he was provoked repeatedly the Dane during the match.

After Schalke drew 2-2 against AC Milan in the 2005/06 Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti branded Poulsen 'a coward', alleging that the midfielder had kicked out at star man Kaka off the ball.

A further spat ensued at the end of the second leg with Milan. With Milan victorious, Gennaro Gattuso confronted and taunted Poulsen about the result. The Dane responded by saying that he found Gattuso childish and hoped he felt embarrassed for himself.

In June 2007 during a Euro 2008 qualifier Poulsen was again involved in cotroversy after he punched Swedish striker Markus Rosenberg in the stomach with the game locked a 3-3 in the last minute. Poulsen's was red carded and a penalty was given. However after an angry Danish fan ran on the pitch and attempted to kick referee Herbert Fandel, the game was abandoned and Sweden awarded a 3-0 victory. Poulsen made a public apology for his actions and was suspended for three matches.
Following the Sweden match charges were pressed against Poulsen for the punch on Rosenberg. Danish Minister of Justice Lene Espersen called for Poulsen's exclusion from the national team, though the case was eventually dismissed and Poulsen was free to be called up again.

Really excited for this, hopefully he's keen to get out and play.

Won't be too saddened by Masch's leaving (we've all got to assume he is off now...), yes he is "Monster Masch" but lets face it he is still very immature and his antics have cost us on more than one occasion

Edit: And hopefully we get a whopping transfer fee for him which can be used on some attacking talent

No harm in a bit of edge being added to the team. Hope he does brilliantly for us.

I'm also one of those who won't be crying over Mascherano's departure. I don't think he's a cunt at all cos he wants to leave. Good luck to him I say. If you and your family are unhappy in a country/culture why would you want to stay? You'd be a ****in idiot in fact.

I am also unconvinced about the merits of being "the best defensive midfielder in the world" - if you're going to play in the centre of midfield in a club like Liverpool, I'd hope you'd have more to your game than chasing someone and putting in a tackle. I'm totally open to being proven wrong about this but I think players like Mascherano as a concept are overrated to begin with.

                      - masherano will leave
                      - lucas will stay
                      - if poulsen is replacement for mascherano, then we're fu*ked up

+ roy and poulsen worked together, so that may boost his moorale
                      + could surprise many fans
+ we all knew this is going to happen
