While he may be more of a threat than Carroll that is more of an indictment of Carroll than praise for Torres, IMO spending any money we got from selling Carroll to buy Torres would just be throwing good money after bad.
    I hear you Exiled.

I just think for the money they're supposedly asking for, and the ridiculous prices being paid for goalscorers then £15 million is a good option especially when the player has been proven to score goals in your team beforehand.

Maybe you're right, Obviously £15m for the Torres of old is a no-brainer, even if he'd had one poor season you could still see it as a good deal. But for me, with him at 29 years old, with the wages he'd demand, and 2.5 seasons of poor form behind him I just can't see it being a good deal. I'd love to be proved wrong though...
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

Could turn out to be our lil fox in the box...little movement & link up play & rediscover his finishing touch...no need for too much pace.

If Torres was going on a free or less than £5m and £40k p/w wages then fine, it'd be worth a punt.

Anything more than that and I wouldn't go anywhere near him.

It's a cunts trick but when you think about it it's good advertising isn't it.

Got tons of "free" publicity from this.

I'm sure Torres won't be too bothered by it anyway, Chelsea drew more attention to it than anything by asking them to take it down. Ignore it and eventually people get bored of it and it goes away.

Yep 5m would be tops what I would pay for him. Having said that I saw an interview with Gerrard the other day on youtube (not sure how old it is) where he said that Torres is a confidence player. Playing from the bench is certainly not going to help him, therefore we would be buying CFC Torres, not the LFC one, and I have an issue with him going into the team ahead of Sturridge. Poor old Danny if that were to happen. Two clubs, done nothing really wrong and he gets pushed out for a player who couldn't hit a barn door.
"That's how I found myself on the Kop that day I had my blue-and-white scarf safely tucked away inside my coat as I listened to Liverpool songs and swayed with the masses.

Then City scored and I screeched and this big bloke, a Liverpool supporter, made towards me and I thought he was going to throttle me. But he just pulled my scarf from under my coat so it lay on the outside, and said: "You should always be proud of your colours, lad."

Oh i totally agree, but i'm not a footballer, and like it or not it is different, players are all to keen to see images of themselves up in lights proclaiming their genius, if PP put one up calling Torres the best player in the league when he was banging goals in he'd be well happy.

Not saying i agree with the ad either, it is a cunts trick no doubt, especially considering the massive fall from grace that's occured, but in football things are different, it isn't 'normal' life, is it ? players court publicity to make them look good, and it's just a poster from a bookie after all, poking fun at a football player, if they had put it up outside his house then i think i'd have more if a problem with it tbh.
