Whereas this lot: Aspas, Alberto, Ming, Sakho, Moses, Cissjoko, Toure, Markovic, Balotelli, Lambert, Lovren, and Origi didn't or are yet to contribute anything positive to the side.

    Who have I missed?

So, over 2 seasons we've signed 16 players and the result is first XI has a slightly better left back while the rest of the team is either the same or has got worse.

Some of those players have bags of potential and may prove to be successful signings, but this post is purely looking at the impact they are having on the side right now.

Questions need to be asked of our transfer dealings.
I don't deny there are issues with the signings made or their impact to date but it's pointless to go on a rant that focuses solely on performance to date and completely ignores any future potential. Unless you're planning to update your analysis after every game.

Easy to forget as a fan, but being Liverpool manager is actually a real life job. And like any job a perception of how the future may differ from the past is actually quite useful, no matter how frustrated or impatient fans might be.

IMO its both, there are question marks over whether either were good enough and then we have the Brendan factor (coaching or lack thereof, tactics, formations, systems)

You misunderstand my point. I'm saying if Rodgers says to the owners he needs more money to get things back on track then they should have the confidence in him to do that otherwise they are hamstringing him from doing the job. They've got to afford him the level of support that they would a new manager.

I don't understand why you can't do both? Look at Arsenal, their policy of only buying for the future won them zilch. You've got to do both. We're trying to do both. I think we're doing OK on buying future potential, but recently we've sucked at buying players for now - Aspas, Ming, Moses, Lovren, Balo and Lambert being obvious examples of recent signings that were brought in to have an immediate impact rather than with a view to the future.

Fair enough. Don't disagree with either of those points but that wasn't what you originally said

Not exactly, but let's agree to disagree.

In reality if Markovic, Emre Can and Origi all become the some of the worlds best players in their positions - which they possibly could (but i doubt it tbh) then that still wont get BR out of trouble if we dont remain in the top 4 imo. You cant go from second to something like 5th 6th or 7th without being hammered.....especially when considering the money spent.....

I think when sturridge gets back then the team will look a whole lot better......and i think that him and balotelli can form a partnership as well.

The entire back four have been changed manquillo, sakho, toure, lovren, Moreno. Our back four previously was Johnson, skrtel, agger and Enrique. Since then those players have been brought in and were still Terrible.

It does have something to do with the players but for me the majority of the responsibility falls with Brendan.

That is some seriously horrible scouting right there. Factor in the wages aswell vs production...yikes!

you'll be getting banned for highlighting that lot...

when I look at that, there's possibly only 4 players who I'd say are good enough to be in the starting 11 for us too (when everyone's fit). The rest are not better than squad players to drift in when someone's injured. There's a few that have potential, but if we're being honest, very few would get into a best 11 for us over the last say 10 years.
