        It really is isn't it.

Not sure not spending is an option though. We have to do all we can to get back into that top 4. If not this will be a truly disastrous season. I think it's worth the gamble.

Yeah we have to try and buy a proper striker. Otherwise I agree, chucking good money after bad seems pointless at this stage. We need to look at the bigger picture and change our policy.

The worry about changing the policy is that I wouldnt trust either Brendan or the committee as individuals to get the decisions right

Neither of them are much carat in terms of picking players

I dont think we should blame either Brendan or the owners. There's obviously a cultural and sports difference between here and the USA plus the differing nuances in baseball and football which the owners have not got the hang of yet.

They are relying on other people to guide them because they know zero about our game. Brendan is a young manager who like someone straight out of university thinks they know it all and wants to prove it. He is still relatively inexperienced for a manager of an elite club like ours so he will make mistakes but that's part of his development.

We the fans have to go through the ups and downs of him learning his trade which is either exhilarating or painful but that's what you get with young inexperienced people in any walk of life. As fans we are having to deal with an inexperienced manager and inexperienced owners which at times will infuriate us.

I think we need someone in there who has some experience of top level football and who can help the owners and the manager learn together but I have no idea who.

Not quite sure what the owners need to be taught tbh.

They have not been tight when it comes to backing managers, they have not been tight with regards to wages for players. We cannot match the wages and transfer fees that the likes of City and Chelsea can lash out, but we are certainly able to match and often beat the likes of Arsenal when it comes to offering wages and we generally spend more than them when it comes to transfer fees also.

So if the money being made available by the owners is not an issue, then the issue has to be either in the selection of players to buy or in the training and tactical side of the players we have.

Spurs are a team that over the years have had many folk gush on about how they have people in the high up positions that understand football. They have had plenty of money to spend. But I don't see massive inroads being made by them despite having higher ups who supposedly understand the game.

I think as supporters we have a tendency to push the blame for any failings towards the high level positions within a club or towards owners.

When Rafa was here, if a player flopped then that player was nearly always called a Parry signing. Any player that was a hit was a Rafa signing.

Under Kenny the flops were at first blamed on Comolli.

Even with Rodgers we have had a number of players said to be the signings of individuals other than the manager.

What I am seeing this season on the pitch pretty much boils down to stuff that would be in the remit of the manager and players. Basic stuff like team shape, ball retention, passing, effort, formation, tactics and what not. Unless our owners are popping up at Melwood and taking charge of the training sessions, then them being from a different sporting culture has very little bearing on what we are getting to see on the pitch this season.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

brendan was so sure he didnt want to work under a DoF, wanted to call all the shots.

he might be a decent coach, but there are other sides to the 'overall management' that need a few years to click into place.
our lack of a scouting team when rodgers took over is laughable. the lack of continuity at any major club is something that should be unthinkable in todays modern game.

i wonder if he would sometime like the chance to get a few considered opinions from more senior experienced people. im sure he would love to be able to blame some of these transfer shockers on someone else.

Brendan Rodgers press conference:"That was one of main reasons we were able to sign him. As far as I'm concerned that's still case with Origi."

Rodgers on Origi: "Young player we signed last summer was on agreement he had to stay at Lille."

Rodgers: "I spoke to Daniel at length and he's as down as I've seen anyone. We need to go away & find answers so he can perform consistently

Rodgers:"Daniel has just been extremely unfortunate. He's a player who doesn't want to be out for this period of time with the quality he has

Rodgers on strikers: "I have great trust in the players. I would be more concerned if they were moping around or didn't care."

Rodgers on Palace game last season :"The damage was always done in the Chelsea game. That was the one that changed it for us. But on reflection I was extremely proud." on returning to Palace: "That wasn't the game that cost us. Maybe the excitement to claw back the goal difference overtook us."
"It will be equally as tough v Palace.Warnock is a wonderful manager with big experience. Look to start off exciting run with a win

Klopp says the only country he'll work in after Germany is England. Hope it doesn't come to it but he'd be top of my list in the summer if it did.

He's won two leagues in the face of Bayerns wealth so yes. He may be stagnating where he is. I'd rather Brendan got his act together though obviously

His side has been regularly gutted of it's best players each summer, yet until now it has had no effect whatsoever on their standing. If Brendan goes - he should be our first choice.

Plus, he's a proper mental and it would be great fun if nothing else.
