When Rodgers got the job I wanted AVB over him, I like him but the press in this country have marked his card, no point putting ourselves under that pressure.

I was the same with AVB coming in ahead of Rodgers.

He was given zero chance to work as Spurs, and was bombed out of Chelsea even faster.

Be interesting to see if he does much good at Zenit.
      *Except Michael, who died.

I also wanted AVB (I think loads of us did). I don't now though. No chance.

They are about 7 points clear at the top of the league apparently.

AVB may have won stuff but he's constantly and consistently proved he knows **** all about the English Premier league and therefore shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Rodgers IMO. Or even Rafa.

I too thought he wasn't given a fair go at Chelsea, but what he did at Spurs (albeit also without time) had alarm bells ringing.

What did he do that had your alarm bells ringing? He had a pile of players brought in that were later confirmed as not being his buys, He got them to a record points total, and was doing alright, but not great, in his second season when he was sacked.

I don't want him near Liverpool FC but I really do think that a lot of what people think of him has been shaped by the british media slagging him off.

We only have to look at Rafa to see the damage the media can do to a manager's reputation (albeit a much better one in Rafa). Talk to non Liverpool supporters when Rafa was in charge and you would have gotten lots of soundbytes about a man out of his depth who was clueless and who did not understand the "British" game.

What AVB needs to do is stick with a club for a bit and rebuild his rep. Which he looks to be doing at Zenit given how they look to be doing since he got the job there last season.

What might be interesting to do though is see who people would be happy with if Rodgers were to leave.

Maybe who people would be happy with if Rodgers was gone by January and then who they would want if he was gone in May.
I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.

And then who would they want in the following Jan when the new manager lost a few games in a row.

Trying to keep some realism, but at the same time aiming for the high end:

                          1. Simeone, if he feels the time is right
                          2. Klopp, he needs a fresh challenge for his and Dortmund's sakes
                          3. Rafa, my support for him waned near the end of his career when we just weren't pushing on to the next level. But now we're not even in CL contention we may need to him to get us back there again. That's my realism hat on.

If none of the above then keep Rodgers, I enjoy his fluid play too much to see him gone. If only he could magically fix his defensive and player-purchasing blind spots.

Simone - Totally unrealistic IMO. No idea why he'd leave there for us.
Klopp - Almost a unique opportunity to bring him now given their league position. I think there'd be bigger teams jump in though should he quit/be fired. Too good to be true.
Rafa - I think he'd resign instantly if we showed an interest in him. I do have concerns about going back though and he seems to have lost his way somewhat. I doubt FSG would entertain the idea anyway.

I'm not saying I want Rodgers out, bit rather that I am curious to see who people would like to see come in should it happen.

I agree about Klopp and Rafa, I'd sound Simeone out but doubt he'd want the change. Bielsa might be fun and maybe Garcia from Roma? Maybe De Boer deserves an interview? AVB needs to rebuild his reputation in peace IMO.

I think we need to stop assuming that player X or manager Y doesn't want to come, I hope the "committee" doesn't work like that.
