It's bizarre. Both clubs have been trying to find their identity since the split. Liverpool almost going into administration, Rafa's reputation tarnished by his spell at Inter. Ever since, both have been trying to rebuild themselves. We've flirted with the League Cup, an FA Cup Final, two points from winning the league, a brief spell in the Champions League, but nothing sustainable. Rafa winning the Europa League and Italian Cup with Chelsea & Napoli, but again, nothing sustainable.

Now Rafa's at the club he supports, with a fantastic opportunity to go and compete for the biggest prizes, but their fans wanted Ancelotti to stay. We wanted Rodgers to go, but the club wanted him to stay, and we're light-years away from challenging for the major trophies.

It'll be interesting to see how both paths turn out.

I ****ing hate Madrid but I really hope he wins a league again and his best chance is with them.

    The good old days!
I watched 2007 CL final yesterday you seem to be missing Bolo Zenden and Pennant on either side.

seeing the emotion in the guy when he often comes across as so controlled makes you realise what it means to him. never seen another manager get so emotional when joining a club, even though its his home town.
he would have blubbed like a baby if we would have taken him back.

    what a top bloke
