It's interesting on here though, the ones who defend Skrtel with "changing partner" "Lucas's fault" "Moreno's fault" "Mignolet's fault" dont do that with the other centre backs. How come?
I'd say Mig is the primary cause of all our defensive issues personally. When nearly every shot goes in that is going to cause serious problems to the centre backs.

      Bull****.

      He needs 4.

They're all prone to mistakes due to lack of concentration. I'm not Sakho's greatest fan. He's a decent defender but prone to the odd mistake. More pressing concern is how most of them seem to be breaking down with muscle related injuries and doesn't allow us to keep a consistent backline.

Undoubtedly true. De gea proved that you can have a **** defence infront of a top class goalie and still end up finishing in the top 4. Our defence wouldn't be so back if we had a half decent goalie - not even a worldie just someone 50% of de gea but even that level is too much to ask of Mignolet.

I think Lovren and sakho can just about manage playing carling cup games v league 2 opposition but you may be right.

So the 2015 clean sheet stat is mainly due to other players but our defensive problems are mainly due to Mig? Defensively, we need better at GK, CB and CM.

Sorry the stats I posted 3 months ago don't include games from the last 3 months. He is still a steaming pile of ****e we wasted more money on.

That's true whether you can accept it or not

Mattshark won't criticise Sakho. Never ever. He'll pull out useless stats that no one understand including him so as to back up his point.

think people (naturally) like certain player (eg Sakho, Lucas) and therefore find it difficult to be objective about their performance.

I'm not getting involved i the Sakho vs Skrtel vs Lovren thing, my opinions are well known. Sakho for some reason seems very popular on here, I just don't see it. Who's the common denominator these days that we can blame?

That is all from a single run of good form we had last season and I'd say was due to the defence as whole, not any single player. Since Mig arrived we have been consistently poor defensively. In fact it is the worst we have had since 1998-99.

We should burn the chairman of his supporters club as sacrifice.

So so bad since the last injury. Played well v Stoke and United but literally every other performance has been a stinker. He has a higher ceiling than any of our other CBs, and is comfortably our most capable defender. But when he's bad he's really bad.

I think he is being undermined by a few things - his injury (clearly not totally over it imo), the lack of any sort of regular partner (two in one game again today) and the uncertainty of a properly ****e keeper. I know none of this excuses him not shutting down Defoe today, allowing him to turn, but he's lost confidence due to a combination of the aforementioned factors. IMO anyway. CBs are all about pairings, partnerships. If the partnership doesn't work, two good centre halves can be made to look ****. I would sell every one of our CBs ahead of him so let's stick with him, sign a new CB or two and try and find a partnership that works.
