And yet two right footed centre halves is common place. What's the difference? In reality nothing other than preconceived ideas of what should happen because of what we are used to seeing.
I thought this too but I've had my mind changed. It's not about which foot they use its about which side of the defensive duo they are most used to and most comfortable playing . John Terry for example is right footed but always plays left side. They're aren't that many left footed CB's compared to their right footed counterparts. As good left footed ones are hard to come by, they tend to only ever play left side, right footed ones who play left side are common because most clubs would usually only have right footed CB's so one of them will always play left side. On the other side, left footed ones are rarer and will typically spend their entire time playing exclusively on the left side. Asking them to play right side can quite often be completely alien to them compared to a right footer who may have played on both sides during his footballing education.
That said, Agger has apparently played right side for Denmark on occasion so I'd like to see it tried at least once this season as I think him and Sakho are our best CB's. Maybe we'll have to wait until we are put of the title race for the chance to be taken, which hopefully won't come!
he looks a bit leggy and almost to calm, so much so it almost looks a bit traore esque in his speed/technic when passing at times - but he's actually technically very good. I watched him the u21's the other night - and granted its a lower standard but there were a few times were he looked so casual on the ball i thought he was going to **** it up, but time after time he played the right ball and played it well.
He is sometimes very nonchalant in his passing (and dribbling) but he is, for the most part, accurate in his delivery so the pass doesn't turn into a defensive error.
Imo he is not very technical as lot of times he seems to be so off balance when passing almost to the point of falling but he is effective, which imo covers his technical shortcomings.
Also he has some incredible physical predispositions but needs to work on his headers, which are also either lacking the power or he doesn't time them well (jumps too soon).
Hasn't played much and imo it is too early to properly judge him.

Time will tell.
Normal I'd agree with this, and it's a sensible statement. However, sometimes I think you can just tell, even early on. For me Sakho is one of those times. I think if he can stay fit he's going to be fantastic for us.
