There is no way it could be proven if he lied about it so the talk of of punishing him for anything other than the push is a non-starter.

But it's too late for Firmino to be exonerated in the eyes of the many, even being accused will leave a permanent stain on his reputation whatever happens. Too many people want him to have said it, and bizarrely want their own player to have been racially abused. Not something Holgate will have given due consideration as he was looking to avoid the wrath of his manager for being sent off.

That's why i'm saying if it is proven to be a misunderstanding Holgate should come out with a statement and explanation. That way all but the total idiots would accept that you would also restore faith in the system particularly if it is resolved quickly.

I am holding out hope that the players first reaction to adversary isn't to cry racism. It'd be a pretty sad state of affairs if it was. I dont think you can really compare it to the rolling around to get out of a red card either.

I read yesterday that the whole of Firmino's rant was in Portuguese and the n-word used was the Portuguese (and Spanish word for 'black' rather than the n-word most of us are presumably thinking of.

Again I don't know if this is true of just speculation from somewhere but if it is we may get into another Suarez like language / context / cultural discussion

Yeah look I hear, but honestly, it seems everything would point to the fact that Holgate either misunderstood what was said to him or worse still pulled the race card to get out of a sending off, much like when I player goes through another player like knife through butter then rolls around on the floor claiming they are injured to avoid the red card.

I am sure we will find out what happened quite soon, if Bobby just called him a son of a bitch, then Holgagte should absolutely get a book made out of bricks thrown at him.

I don't believe Holgate fabricated the whole thing (and short of him admitting it, that could never be proved) I think/hope that he has misheard/misunderstood what was said. Like I say as with much of this stuff you never know what is true, what is half true and what is complete BS

You would hope that this is the case. The club should have learned from the previous PR disaster and suspended him immediately, apologied said the behaviour is unacceptable and say that we are following internal disciplinary procedures and will cooperate fully with any other investigation.

Well how I see it is the incident that happened before the alleged comment is now fine under the laws of the game.


Shoving a player into a section of fans seems to be fair game and not even card worthy.


The alleged comment is meant to have happened after the shove, so the shove should be getting looked at as a seperate incident.

Ultimately because the push was not dealt with, I suspect regardless of what has gone on as some have already suggested, the FA will deem the evidence inclusive and drop the matter. The whole thing will blow over much like it did in the game. Bobby does not have the same reputation Suarez had, the English press had a complete hard on for that guy. I only hope it does not mess with Bobbys head.

I am personally cynical because of the way he stood there looking for a reaction out of Bobby, he was trying to get him sent off.

At this stage is 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

The sooner its dealt with and we can move on the better.
