I think Benteke has shown he has an all round game and is not just a target man, also teams should have the option to mix it up a little and not be totally reliant on a plan A or tiki taki football,Options/choices are invaluable.

Rondon cost 12 million and scored 16 goals in 26 league games, 19 in 31 games if you count Europe. He only played 1528 minutes in the league though which adds up to a goal every 96 mins in the league. All goals from open play.Originally posted by Bender View PostBased on ?* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Benteke has and can score goals from open play, the biggest negative in the Benteke deal is the fee, neither player or fans can do anything about that.I'm pretty sure we'd all be as high as a kit if we signed Benteke for £15Million.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostRondon cost 12 million and scored 16 goals in 26 league games, 19 in 31 games if you count Europe. Let's just wait and see, Rondon has scored goals at Malaga, Rubin and Zenit and since we wanted to go for a target man I think he'd have been a good shout. Especially since he cost 20 million less and is probably on a lesser wage as well.Originally posted by Chazza View PostIn the hugely competitive Russian league.* The above is posted in my opinion. Well, yes, if they had been similarly priced I wouldn't be making this point. I think these are pretty similar players, but they have a huge difference in cost. If we can adapt to playing with a target man I'm sure Benteke will be good, I'm jsut making a point, for debate, that maybe we could have gotten a similar player for less than half the fee.Originally posted by Bender View PostBenteke has and can score goals from open play, the biggest negative in the Benteke deal is the fee, neither player or fans can do anything about that.I'm pretty sure we'd all be as high as a kit if we signed Benteke for £15Million.Last edited by The_weatherman; 12-08-15, 12:08 PM.* The above is posted in my opinion. Football is littered with players that scored for fun in one league and developed two left feet in the PL. I think you can only judge on evidence over a prolonged period of time.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostRondon cost 12 million and scored 16 goals in 26 league games, 19 in 31 games if you count Europe. Your opinion will look quite daft if Rondon scores 5 goals this season and Benteke scores 20.
Even if he scores less, it's about the situation, what those goals meant (turning draws into wins etc) and enabling other players to thrive. Was muß, das muß.

just out of curiosity if LFC had gone on for Rondon i'm pretty sure the price would have jumped up a fair old bit.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostLet's just wait and see, Rondon has scored goals at Malaga, Rubin and Zenit and since we wanted to go for a target man I think he'd have been a good shout. What if it's the other way around? Or, which is more likely, both players will score about 10-15 goals a piece?Originally posted by foresterbloke View PostFootball is littered with players that scored for fun in one league and developed two left feet in the PL.
