Our history dictates we need a striker of world class or close to that but our current predicament and perhaps wealth precludes it.

Realistically, if we had a certain 'cash' backing, would Griezmann or Muller fit into that 'WC' bracket?

On the striker problems of this season (and midfield not to forget!!)

No coincidence then that 'Christian Benteke is an anagram of 'Their Nine Setback'

              Fantastic captain's performance tonight.

Didn't stop geeing up the young lads and leading by example with his incredible work ethic.

Enjoy your last few months at the club, Chris.

                ****in waste of space.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Service into him was poxy but yeah he was ****ing ****. No effort at all, it was very annoying.

We'll sell him to West Ham and he'll get 17 league goals including 2 against us next year.

I don't know how you'd deal with him. Get him alone and have a heart to heart, or get him alone and give him a punch in the face.

He needs sorting out either way, he looks shell shocked or is it that he's just not very good?

He is struggling with the burden, ****ing hell being Captain you'd think you'd be going up to everyone telling them to prepare and get ready but he did **** all tonight. Don't think he's got the wrong attitude as such, he can apply himself but he's clearly a confidence player.

He needs to be tougher, smash **** out of defenders like Costa does even if it means turning into a bit of a dirtbag. Otherwise he's going to vanish into the doldrums.
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Damage limitation now in terms of what we can get for him. Lack of effort and technical ability at times.

He was the team captain and should have been leading the line and busting a gut. Instead he was the same static, lazy player we've seen this season. I know some don't rate him but I do think he's a good player that will score goals but I don't think he suits Klopp's style of play in the slightest. I do think he looks devoid of any confidence.

Short of a drastic change in his game, I can't see him being at LFC next season. We'll probably take a massive hit of the fee, but sure what's new at LFC.

Yes the service wasn't the best but he's a striker who cost £32m, he should be able to make stuff for himself against this level of opposition or we shouldn't have signed him.

I know as the only player who plays regularly he was the only / natural choice for captain on that basis, but he's never captain material.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

There were a few moments when he raised his arm as someone like Randall or Kent had the ball wide but he was ignored almost everytime!

Now that speaks poorly of the wide players but it also maybe tells us something about what the squad (even the kids!) thinks of whipping in balls to the "big man". The academy are taught expressly to keep it on the floor, you rarely see a ball launched in the U21/18s unless its over an opposition back line for a sprinting forward.

yeah I agree. Not sure if it's laziness or just the lethargic nature of his game and the way he plays. But yeah it's not ideal and he either has to change or go.

IMO a player that is purely a confidence player should not be captain of any side. IMO Benteke is that & looks shot of all confidence at the moment. Our crossing mid play or set pieces if utterly horrendous & Benteke thrives on that.
