Well it's undoubtedly questionable on the basis that we lost two cup finals and were as bad in the league as the previous manager's record and they've rewarded him with a long term contract.

I think Klopp is humble enough to know his strengths and weaknesses and wouldn't have problem in seeking help in recruitment or via a DOF if it was required.Originally posted by G View PostI didn't say it was bad news but you have to be mindful of some things too. His current setup is in charge of coaching the squad. They way some journos are talking is that Klopp is in charge of everything football related now. "his own director of football" as Barrett put it. That's a lot of stuff for one man to take on. He's never had that before either. hopefully he gets the right people in the right places to support him properly. He's a top class manager and that's why we hired him but he's never been in charge of his own recruitment for example, he had Zorc for that. If that's what we ask of him I hope it doesn't take his energy and focus away from what he's really here for, winning.

Evans has never forgiven FSG for sacking off Dalglish something they had the right to do esp given what I've been reading about the summer of 2011 transfer policy - (KD wanted a British core so got Adam, Henderson and Downing in addition to Carroll, the committee wanted Griezmann (yes that one), Nolito, Wistel and AN Other who I've forgotten). Anyway since then Evans has been on their case.Originally posted by RichC View PostHas Tony been given short shrift by the club or Klopp recently then? That reads as a badly written and thought out rant.
Oh well
Probably a difference between three years, one of which was good two of which were mediocre and the failure to reach a single final. Whereas Klopp took Rodgers misfits and got them to two finals in his first six months and playing much better football than was the case at the end of his predecessors tenure.Originally posted by Fredo View PostWell it's undoubtedly questionable on the basis that we lost two cup finals and were as bad in the league as the previous manager's record and they've rewarded him with a long term contract.Last edited by redmike65; 09-07-16, 03:27 PM.

Yes sorry you're right - anyway the points stands Damien Camolli had his list and Dalglish had his, Kenny got his way and FSG were not happy with that as the money was considered wasted as the season collapsed and the football was rubbish for the most part after Christmas. Basically one got sacked for the league and the other got sacked for not being able to impress his scouting knowledge upon the manager and being seen to defer to KD too often.
Meanwhile in the here and now
Could that happen at Melwood/Arbour Lane, doesn't seem much room for expansion unless Liverpool own the land on Simonswood Lane."we need to develop the club. we need to develop a lot of things. we have already built a new stand. we think about erm building a new academy or bring the academy and melwood together, things like this so we think about everything at the club"Last edited by redmike65; 09-07-16, 03:41 PM.

Klopp speaking to the anointed ones (as written up in the telegraph)
Klopp felt Liverpool were being used by Gotze as a back-up option so withdraw his offer to his former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who is now close to rejoining his old club from Bayern Munich. The Liverpool coach is adamant the right players - committed to his vision - are available, and don’t need to be hugely expensive, famous faces.
“If we go for players and there is obviously no chance, there is no point,” said Klopp.
“Look for players you can have and make the best of it. I am 100 per cent happy with the guys we have brought in until now.
“This period in every year is one of a lot of expectations. Everyone expects big names and a big improvement because of big names and if you don't know the players it's like 'what are we doing? what are they doing?'
“Some clubs have already done a lot but you cannot prove in this moment what's really right. What you have to do is prepare the new season.
“At the moment nobody thinks about the good games we played last season.
“They only think Manchester United have taken this player or Manchester City have taken this player and we have taken ‘what is the name?’ and that is it. This moment for us it is about creating and building a team for next year. We have to prove our thoughts about the team work.”
For Klopp, moulding a side is about assembling complementary talents, not obsessing over how much others are spending on established stars.
“We have to build a special bond. It is using experience, using the base and not killing the base and starting completely new,” he said.
“We can say yes we were only eighth in the league and that is not too good, but we could have got European football, that’s clear. You take from it and you make decisions and then go for it. That is what we are doing in the moment. I cannot make the transfers everyone wants.
“We can talk about the one or two disadvantages that we have. We are not in the Champions League, we are not in the Europa League. That possibly means a player wants to play in the Champions League or European football or whatever so cannot join Liverpool. If you want it is only a fact for us. For us it is not a moment to change a whole team, there is no reason for it. Absolutely not. There were games - especially in the Europa league - where you can say this team plus some new transfers could be really strong. They could be a real challenger.”

I was in favour of ripping up the base of the squad, as I wasn't convinced, and still remain unsure, but happy to go with Klopp's gradual improvements.
By the sounds of it, we'll go for a left back and central midfielder, and that's it. No shock departures on the cards, like Sturridge or Henderson. I do fear the squad has become so used to reaching the heights, and then losing at the key moments.

Contains nothing that we haven't said between us in the last season but nice to read it all in one place. And reading between the lines it seems to point up why Klopp himself isn't apparently worried about signing obvious high profile names at vast expense who may not really be suitable. He believes in coaching his own tactics to a level that raises what he already has, with some 'sensible' additions also made to the squad.
The primary issues highlighted for me are obviously Moreno's hairbrained lack of positional discipline and the two holes created by it - one directly behind him on the flank and the other from the CB to the left channel, and what happens with Milner played in a midfield two. Fix those two outstanding problems and Klopp will have what he wants I reckon.Last edited by redmike65; 16-07-16, 09:27 PM.

That is a pretty interesting readOriginally posted by Phoenix07 View Posthttp://spielverlagerung.com/2016/07/...pps-liverpool/
Excellent piece (very long) on Klopp's tactics with us.
I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?
