I certainly don't think klopp can be totally exempt from blame just because they aren't his signings. When does a manager ever get to kick everyone out and start from scratch before he's judged? That goes for any walk of life.
He needs to get more out of this lot, if that means tweaking his preferred setup, so be it.
Completely agree.Comment

I don't think Klopp has done a particularly good job so far. I believe that once he has adapted to the league and reshaped the squad he will do much better but he has not notably improved our points scoring from Rodgers."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

Rafas first league season was woeful and without Istanbul at the end of it he'd have been under a lot of pressure and he had a summer and preseason before it. But he learned a lot about the league and his players, made some brilliant signings in some key areas the following summer and we improved massively from there on.Comment

By the end of that season you could see somethings coming together and the European campaign showed a lot of his qualities. We've had a few standout games but not shown anything like a growing identity (beyond a willingness to run around a lot) or the appearance that we have mastered particular types of game.Rafas first league season was woeful and without Istanbul at the end of it he'd have been under a lot of pressure and he had a summer and preseason before it. I think you are right to flag up the learning element though. I feel managers and players often have a culture shock when they come to the PL even if they go on to excel."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

I think we have shown signs of a plan and improvement but it's constantly undermined by a defence and keeper whos heads have completely gone from 3 successive years of being unable to defend well enough for most of that time. It's ingrained in them now, To be that bad that long is really unprecedented and I think the only way that's changing is via new personnel. Injuries up front exacerbate that cos they have removed our ability to outscore any lead our **** defence hands over.Comment

All any manager can do is put a team out with decent tactics and enthusiasm, get the players in the right places to defend and attack, after that it's up to them, if they wont shoot when in those positions, or cock up the defending on such a continuous basis as ours do, well, that for me says we need better players.
Also, comparing any managers reign to Leicesters and Ranieri is plain stupid, they are on the crest of a magnificent wave, and could just as easily be fighting relegation next season imo.
Great managers have long spells of success, that's the benchmark imo, not one season where it all go's right.
I'm happy for him to assess this squad and then build something that will last longer than a single season, and i believe he will, and i also believe certain players will have similar faith in him, and sign for LFC where before the would not, but the summer will tell us more.

Ings & Gomez getting injured within days of him joining
Origi getting injured, Sturridge not playing

Have we not also played the most games of any team in Europe's top 5 leagues so far this season? 40 so far or something like that?Comment

I'm actually trying to get my head around why anyone would be questioning Klopp at this early stage in his time at the club. We have a group of players that both pre - Klopp turned up as when they choose too. We have seen that if they are on song they play the opposition of the pitch.
The problem is we have so many inconsistent players at the club currently and they simply are not at the level that is required. Then we need to take in to account our lack of strike force which has been a major problem since Klopp has been here. Injuries to players in key position and key players to boot has resulted in a really bad spell for the club.
Posters/supporters questioning Klopps ability to get the best out of the players at his disposal is fine, if you take in to account the bang average players we have at best in most positions. Then I'd say he is doing probable as well as could be expected. Klopp has been let down by inconsistency and bad defending and a at times calamitous goal keeper.
Klopp has already shown enough to prove with the right players he'll have a team rocking not only the kop but the whole of Anfield on match days.
Jurgen Klopp said in an interview when at Mainz or Dortmund you can only do so much with players, you can get them ready and in still a playing style, drill tactics on the practise pitches but you cannot kick the ball for them during a game. This is the problem we have mentally weak players - players that do not have the ability to play at a club were the expectation is so high.
We have to many players that struggle for form after injury - to many that are just average in their ability. We have no leaders - Henderson is an average player he's not a leader we don't have a single player that has the ability to lead or take a game by the scruff and push everyone on. We have a few players with the ability to become world class players in their own right, but they need better players around them - none of this is down to Klopp.
I really cannot see what more JK can do with this current crop of players - people say ok the league has gone so lets play the younger players, sure lets destroy their confidence - would that be a good idea to put so much pressure on them playing in a team that is under performing. Anyway they are not the answer. The answer is consistency!
Klopp has had no time to really train since arriving - only in the past week has he had more that 3 days between matches - again we are back to 3 days again.
I know Jurgen will be a success here, but how bigger success will only be known once he has had time to work with the right players - blame at this stage is unjust and completely unfounded at this early stage.
The current 1st players that will have a future at the club imo are
Ward
Clyne
Gomez
Courtinio
Inngs
Sturridge
Origi
Lucas(maybe)
Can
Sakho (for now)
Ibe (he needs to show more game intelligence or he'll be shipped out)
Henderson will need to put in a big season next year or it will be his last at Liverpool imo
The others I would not be surprised to see moved on over the next 2 seasons.
As for the younger players we'll see a 2 or 3 come in to the 1st team as regulars for next season I'd imagine.

I think it's still far too early to put any significant blame at Klopp's door. He's had a ridiculous amount of injuries, he's inherited players out of form and lacking confidence.
He's come in at a time when Brendan had weaved 3 years of 'doing things his way' into the training and systems. Klopp's never managed in England and his methods will need time to sink in. If he's not had a consistent squad to pick from he won't get any consistency in performance.Comment

Good post Mosray
I also think Lallana has a future in the squad. I mean we paid too much for him and so far he hasn't consistently delivered but I have a feeling in a stronger squad with a decent centre forward he will shine. I think Klopp likes him too based on the early hugs. The only way I'd contemplate selling him is if we are getting a Reus type in. But I think Lallana will be a decent option in the squad.
I think we need to build a platform at the back no n centre mid and then with perhaps one class addition up front we've got some good options. It all depends on the Sturridge factor, what can we genuinely expect to see from him over the next 2/3 years?Modifying post.Comment
