I was over in Germany at the start of June and Jonas Hector was being reported there as pretty much a done deal - what happened? Did the price go up by a few million? That might seem negligible when it comes to the end of the season and we're thinking about when James Milner has cost points because it isn't his natural position, or the latest brain failure from Moreno.

I wonder if it was a playing style issue or just that the price went up past a value they thought was too much. Anything between £20m and £23m at this season's values would have been a steal to sort out that position - we don't have a left back!
I know he is still injured but can’t Joe Gomez be classed as a Left Back?
Isn’t that were Rodgers played him with the expectation he would develop into a Centre Back?

If people are content then they are easily pleased.

Midge and Moreno are still here, Sakho problem not solved, no quality LB brought in.

To many attacking midfielders, no holding apart from Joe Allen (whoops, he was sold, not replaced)
Those that hid Anne Frank were breaking the law.
Those that killed her, were following the law.

Wouldn't say I'm pleased or content, but I do understand the logic in not buying players you don't really want.

Just imagine how great an achievement it'll be when we win the league this season.

It's asking a lot of a kid coming back from a serious injury, who only has a handful of premier league starts to come in and make that position his. It might be ages before he's up to standard.

Difficult to argue with that logic however, those few starts he did have, I remember him really bossing the position……….. or did I imagine that?

And how many times have we seen an ‘established’ player come in and either not make the grade or take a season to settle into the EPL anyway….
I guess we have to trust in Klopp!

No one will be laughing when Dahoud, Pulisic and the mystery left back are added in the summer (oh and striker as Sturridge will be gone I'm sure)

Steady on mate, he only played a few games and he was ok.

Offers nothing going forward (because he's really a centre back) which wont be much help against teams that park the bus.

It would appear that Mr Klopp has not been trying to invest in a new LB, do you think he has made a big mistake by not realising this, or do you think he's not up to the job?

My opinion is that he's fully aware of the situation and maybe he has a direction & style in which he wants the team to develop, and that doesn't require traditional full backs. How about three CBs two on the back line and one mobile covering in front of the back two. Similar to Dier at Spurs. You then have two wing backs who play more as wingers who track back than full backs who get forward. Hence keeping faith with Moreno who is very good going forward as is Clyne.

Maybe the defensive players aren't up to yet but it's a possibility. How about Lovren & Matip with Can
