I saw a thing with Wayne Bridge talking last night and he made quite an interesting point that perhaps the break was as much to do with mentally having a rest as it was physically

Also look at the schedule for the next 12-18 months its ****ing insane, there is little or no break (even during the summer)

Thing is you can't really say to a chunk of the first team squad you can have your holiday as promised but x,y & z you have to stay back and play in this match. It's not really fair and it could end up with some disharmony from the players not getting the break.

None of this is ideal but we are where we are. I think it might have been slightly more prudent to have said nothing let the players go on their break and field the U23's anyway.

It's defo a fight Jurgen has wanted to have for a while, can't blame him either, the schedule is a ****ing joke. Keeping players back might be tough, "Divock, you aren't as good as Sadio, so can't have as long a holiday during the break"

If players go to him and ask to play though then maybe he'll be open to it, dunno, or maybe he's planned everything this season around this break and the players getting a week off and that's the end of it. Sure he'll clarify more at his PC in an hour though.

It's Everton's fault. They really should've beaten us in the last round and then this wouldn't have occurred.

They couldn't even do that right.

If a 4th round round replay would always have been mid break then Klopp could've employed slightly more tact and mentioned that it would have to be the U23s straight after our 3rd round win, or in the build up to the game on Sunday. At least that could possibly have allowed a reschedule of the WHU game to accommodate this. You get the feeling that Klopp wants a fight with authority and sometimes that's not the correct way to go about things

I agree with Chris, its a stand he's taken against the FA. He's wanted a winter break since he's coming here and he's ****ing having it one way or another.

I hate this Murphy argument that he's not playing every three days and should be there. Look at the state of some managers after a few years, e.g. Benitez before he came he and when he left... i'd argue top-level management is tougher than playing.

But what i can't reconsile is some players surely could play, the likes of minamino, Shaqiri (if fit), Origi even. It doesn't need to be a drastic as the Villa game. But i'm not going to get worked up about it... if this is what it takes for the FA to take some steps to address welfare concerns of players/staff then so be it.

Inthink Klopp clarified this right at the start though, it's his first team squad. None of them are available, as instructed by the PL, but not the FA obviously @ the FA

The only way the senior players could play would be if they volunteered and even then I would want absolute guarantees from the Premier League that we wouldnt face sanctions for doing this

Its just like us to be ****ed over with a points deduction for fielding players in this replay (against the Premier Leagues wishes)

As for Klopp I wonder if this break period (for him) is something pre-agreed with FSG in order to get him to sign a new contract, and I do wonder the consequences of forcing him to be at that match

Just to compound the fixture issue, If we beat Shrewsbury we will have to play four games in 11 days 29/02 Watford 5:30pm (A) 05/03 Chelsea (A) 7/03 Bournmouth (H) 11/03 Athlectic Madrid (H)

Doesn't he have a responsibility to us to give us the best chance of progressing?

I'd love him to get a break but things change. Happens to all of us.

The problem I have with all this stuff is this

This country has 3 organisations running its football, The Premier League, The FA and the EFL (English Football League)

There was always rivalry between the FA and the EFL and with the Premier League added to the mix thats now 3 groups constantly jockeying for position but generally self serving

The Premier League decide to have a winter break (and write to the clubs asking them to adhere to this) supposedly one of the reasons for this was because of a recommendation of Gareth Southgate in to help the national team in the Euros. The national team is governed by the FA, the same FA that then decide to schedule the replays during the winter break

Just shows the level of incompetence and what self serving cunts they are
This is very true. But its a bit like EU.... you are better off in it and trying to make changes than spitting your dummy out and ****ing it off?

Haha oh yes I did just use a Brexit analogy!
