Jurgen Klopp is “obsessed” by Newcastle United amid growing doubts over his long-term Liverpool future, sources have told Football Insider.

The Anfield boss has publicly confirmed his commitment to his job in recent weeks after owners Fenway Sports Group put the club up for sale.

But Liverpool observers have noted a growing interest behind the scenes from the German in upwardly mobile Newcastle.

He is said to be regularly asking people in football about Newcastle’s plans and what they will do next, including in the transfer market in January and next summer.

In the words of one source who has spoken to Klopp recently about the north-east giants, the German is “obsessed by Newcastle” Most Saturday's he can be seen down the Bigg market with Barry Venison and Micky Quinn, Although the latter is often in a Kebab shop while they hit the Dancefloor in Popworld.

The level of interest has even led to whispers that the 55-year-old wants to sensationally take on the Newcastle job when he eventually leaves Liverpool.

Klopp signed a new contract with the Merseyside giants in April that runs until the summer of 2026.

But there is growing uncertainty at Anfield, where FSG are looking to find a new buyer and senior executives are leaving.

FSG president Mike Gordon has quit his day-to-day role to oversee takeover talks, sporting director Julian Ward has resigned and will leave at the end of the season and director of research Ian Graham is working his notice.

This comes after the previous sporting director Michael Edwards quit last summer after overseeing a transfer operation hailed as the best in Europe.

      Siily Season started early.

Since when have Newcastle been classed as 'North East Giants'?
Klopp on LFC vs MUFC (March 9th 2016) - "This is why I love football. This is why we watched it when we were young. I can still not have enough of it."

Since they shared a corner with Middlesborough and Sunderland?

Newquay brown used to be a bloody life safer in 90s/noughties bottle bar culture.

One of my kids is (was) a big fan but says it tastes **** since the brewer (Sharps?) sold out and it's now made in a much bigger brewery.

It will soon be meltdown time when fans realise Klopp has it is written into his contract extension that he can leave early if approached by the German FA. He has always said that will be his final job. Now may be the time, he will have 2 clear years to prepare for the Euros 2024.

I don't think he's ready to give up the day-to-day just yet. National team manager is a semi-retirement job.
