What is? My comment? No it is not. Frankly, if the red-faced Alex Ferguson experience is anything to go by, it should lead to bias IN FAVOUR of the biggest ranter.

Agree he shouldn't have approached or fronted up to the fourth official, but what Tierney said was out of order. He apparently didn't see the incident, yet tells Klopp it was going to be a red until the lino involved stepped in and said it was a yellow. That's predetermined bias from Tierney. He didn't see the incident yet immediately says he was going to give Klopp a red??! That's outrageous for a supposedly 'impartial' ref to have preconceived ideas about a red card for an incident he hadn't seen first or spoke to the lino about.

The wider issue is that the Ref's union simply mark their own homework and that's not on. They have internal investigations which come to nothing and are not overseen by any independent body or ombudsman to see that they are actually holding themselves to account properly. It's a massive farce and they sweep all kinds of bias and mistakes under the carpet on a regular basis.. it's a closed shop and they protect their own, even if evidence proves otherwise. Needs a root and branch review as the standard of refereeing in the PL and the massive inconsistencies including VAR is making the PL the worst refereed league in the world... Standards are on the floor. They should be mic'd up and be held accountable after the game to explain their decisions - plus an independent body should be reviewing every refs performance.

Sadly, it's never going to happen and decisions will just get worse and worse...

This is the issue for me officials can't judge incidents that they didn't see, so if Tierney has said that it was a red until someone who saw the incident told him otherwise, you can't officiate that way as he is at best guessing and at worst has an inherent preconception/bias against the person/club involved.

This issue is that the referees/FA look after their own, Klopp has already had a ban this season for incidents involving officials so we all know what will happen. Klopp will get a ban, Tierney I believe isn't officiating this weekend but will undoubtedly be back for the next round of games and the FA will keep putting him on our games and he will keep giving ****e decisions, probably even more so than he has been so far.

Mason was shouting at officials a number of times during the game. That just gets glossed over.

Same with the likes of Pep shouting at officials and making snide comments during pressers.

From a ‘sportsmanship’ perspective, I think there’s a big difference between ranting and raving over perceived injustice and running up to an official and celebrating in their face.

Lots of excuses being made for poor behaviour here. Klopp has always done this stuff, when he’s your manager it’s ****ing brilliant, but it is inappropriate and will be punished. Just accept all of that. We’re not paying the fines, and he can afford it, **** it.

In my view Jurgen does not come out of this very well. Yes, emotions run high, yes some decisions seemed to go against us and yes he has apologised for some of what he said but:

+ You can't accuse a ref of bias, which is what he in effect did
+ You can't claim the ref said something unacceptable when all he seemingly said was in effect "I thought red but have been outvoted"
+ You shouldn't say the things he said about Mason.

It all feels a bit grubby.

Klopp was out of order getting in the officials face but I can't see that he's accused Tierney of bias. Tierney said to Klopp he should have red carded him but his fellow official said its just a yellow. Ultimately Tierney has the final decision so give him a red then rather than make up your own ****ing rules as you go along.

He’s not been punished for that though, he’s being punished for what he said in the post match interview.

Jurgen is in this mess because he fulfilled his media obligations whilst under 'the influence of emotion'. Although the media loves that because it gives them easy stories, maybe clubs/managers need to say "not me/now, I am under the influence".

I agree. Football cannot have it both ways, the emotion and drama but expecting robotic pitch perfect responses. The solution would be for clubs to send the PR department to these interviews. But the press don’t want that. They want the emotion and the controversy and then to condemn whomever was responsible for the outrage the press demand and create.

They want Klopp to be this bundle of energy, comment and humour and to be himself and when that goes wrong the narrative slips to fit. Yes, Klopp should be more calm in these situations but that just fundamentally is not who he is.

These are certainly examples of poor refereeing..would need to be sure they are an unbiased selection before being able to say they illustrate bias.
