Rodgers got bogged down and come the end couldn't see the wood for the trees but he left a young, exciting squad.

It only appears lopsided due to injuries and the loans.
As numerous others have previously mentioned Ings and Gomez would have featured heavily and we'd have to presume Markovic would as well.

If anyone's interested in the Rodgers/Klopp statistical schism, this table at Objective Football has shot stats broken down by manager. Most numbers are improved under Klopp, naturally, but only marginally and not showing anything systemically different. Shots against is a little lower, but not much; shots for is up a bit. The big difference is PDO, which is a combination of save percentage and conversion rate. It's usually thought of as a measure of luck, which isn't totally accurate; it's just that its components are very inconsistent and usually regress to the mean. (It is entirely possible to game PDO, and good teams and good managers do so.) Within PDO, the big difference is conversion rate. It went from laughably bad and totally unsustainable under Rodgers (19%, was always going to rise eventually) to quite high under Klopp (37%). Normally I'd expect that to fall, but Klopp has a history of sustaining this sort of overperformance. Part of it probably comes from higher quality chances as a result of being more risky in the final third. Part is probably just the extra 5% or so Klopp usually gets out of his players.

I also did a quick calculation of Team Rating, which is a metric built on shot ratios intended to be a holistic indicator of performance, and which is roughly as predictive as xG models - I have us rising from fifth in the league under BR to third under Klopp, behind City and Arsenal.

Just confirmation that we've been a lot better under Klopp, which isn't surprising, and that it looks like we're for real - we have every chance of challenging. The majority of the difference seems to be in doing a better job of getting the goals our performances have deserved - more directness around the box certainly plays into that - and the encouraging thing is that we still have a lot more room to improve there.

My only concern about his style of football is how the team is going to fare at Christmas time next season. Obviously, in Germany they have a winter break and that means that the players will still train but won't be playing (they will still play friendlies) competitive games.

The training will be based upon this model I presume, and in England over the Christmas period the club will be playing 3 games in 10 days or something silly. It will be interesting to see if they can keep the tempo/pressing up without the break.

Yeah towards the end ...and I was onside with Rodgers, I was left scratching my head thinking just what the **** is he trying to do

Over thought it and made player instructions far too complex ....

Still a great manager in my books and I think we will make his mark eventually

Yeah that quote amused me and seemed to speak of a healthy winning attitude. I think a lot of people have been getting a bit carried away with his impact - good to see he is still focused on results.
