Yeah has looked way off recently. Such a pity as we need him at his best, so important that he gets back to what he can be.

I expected it to be Salah who'd have the change of position and play on the left, since Mane was superb on the right.
It can work, but our fluidity doesn't seem to involve players switching wings during the game. It'd be great to see Salah on the left, Mane on the right, both tearing up the full-backs, and driving forward. Ribery and Robben were exceptional at Bayern for cutting inside, but I don't see the same explosiveness from either Mane or Salah at cutting in.
Then again, Salah's having an exceptional season, but heat maps do show he does play much further forward, like a striker, so I'm not sure what the solution is.

Mane played on both the left and right wing when at Southampton, played mostly on the right wing in his final Southampton season, and played mostly on the left for Southampton the season before that.
Just looked at his positional stats for when he was with Red Bull Salzburg, and he played on the left wing in nearly every game he played for them.
Last season for us was the first season of his career where he played on the right wing for an entire season. So playing on the left should not be an issue for him
Salah on the other hand has rarely played on the left wing throughout his career. The lionshare of his time at all his clubs has been spent on the right wing. The next most common position for him is the Support striker position, and his third most played position is that of CF/Striker.Last edited by Doc_Piptorious; 29-01-18, 11:42 PM.I don't hate people. It's not so much as playing on the left is a problem, it's just he isn't as effective. If we want him back to last season's form, stick him on the right.Originally posted by Jaco_Pastorious View PostMane played on both the left and right wing when at Southampton, played mostly on the right wing in his final Southampton season, and played mostly on the left for Southampton the season before that.

We won't. I just don't think you will see mane at full pelt on the left. So you Keep it as is and we all have to accept the way it is. When salah is rested we can switch it then or hope mane works out a different way.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostBut Salah offers even more there (a lot more) than Mane did, so why on earth would we move Mo.Always borrow money from a pessimist. His career says otherwise as he made his name on the left wing, and has been very effective there at all his other clubs.
Plus another factor has to be that when looking back at the careers of both Salah and Mane. Salah has been the one with the most ecperience and success from the right wing and more central roles, whereas Mane is the one with the more experience by far of playing left wing.I don't hate people. i just think a bit of injury/confidence has effected his form - he's still scored and assisted through that patch but he looks unsure of himself
His best asset seemed to be, getting defenders squared up and then being able to ghost past them either going outside/down the line or cutting inside...
for some reason he's just seemed to stop doing that - I can't off the top of head remember which game it was recently, but I remember him getting into a position 3 or 4 times where I was screaming for him to take on his man and he didn't - he stopped and slowed it down and went inside looking for a pass.
on top of that, he's first touch has looked a bit off
I think he's just lost some confidencei own everton fans on the internet....that's what i do
