Maybe he needs to play as a number 6 all the time and maybe it's his best position. I think his strengths are that he can protect our possession game as he rarely loses the ball, so would be great as a long term no 6. As someone else mentioned, he is effective when our midfield and shape is compact and our press and counter press is working. Basically he plays well when most of the team plays well, which is hardly rocket science.

That's it there for me. Massively important in the big games. Pretty much a passenger in the games we are expected to win easily. Like West Brom at home. He doesn't offer enough in those sort of fixtures. The hundred touches and shielding and turning one way then the other isn't effective when we're trying to up the tempo, move the ball quicker or break down a parked bus. Definitely keep although he's definitely off.Originally posted by Shaggy View PostHe's some player, especially in the big games.

would be some shot in the arm if Gini signed a contract now with LFC......

I’m bumping this for the good reasons. He was outstanding last night, especially second half. He is one player we can’t afford to lose at this moment.

Excellent observation

IMO it's a bit harsh to say that Gini's downturn in form is due to him not trying/wanting a move/not wanting to get injured etc, other players in the squad have had worse down turns in form this season without the contract/move situation.

This contract situation makes it hard to justify playing him. It would be completely reasonable at the back of his mind to be thinking about not getting an injury. It could cost him his move and a wedge of money. I think the situation has been distracting all season. He's popular in the dressing room and I think it's had an affect.
