I think a lot of fans got carried away by the twitter hype train.
He’s probably the most fan hyped signing we’ve made, until Tiago.
And because of the injuries and not living up to some slightly hysterical expectations, people are writing him off.

I’d agree, effective rather than eye catching this season. I’d say both during the restart though.

The year wait made him get better and better in minds as well.

I think we are all a bit raw after yesterday, but I think this season is going to have more us and downs than the WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW WWWWWWDWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW machine we had got used to. we were spoiled last season. We absolutely pissed it and had it won by Christmas.

Going to be a war this season.

I think Naby has promised a bit but not quite kicked on yet. But, he's doing 'ok' at best.

Ox still searching for consistency after that brutal injury, but was showing signs.

I think yesterday showed we need a certain makeup in the team, and that is one that can control the midfield. Fab/Gini/Naby all too passive. Need to see someone going ****ing mental when the goals start flyiing in. No one looked all that bothered until about the fifth.

In retrospect if Hendo wasnt even fit enough for the bench, we should have thrown Milner on at HT.
        Fair enough.

I think last night was such an aberration across the team, that I wouldn’t write them off as 3 yet. As bad as they were last night, they were excellent against Arsenal 6 days earlier.

Although I can’t wait to get Henderson and Thiago back in in to bring back some authority and control back for the next few games.

          100%.

Needs a grown up in that midfield.

            Exactly.

Yeah, after 2 seasons of relentless W’s, there’s bound to be a drop off some time. And this season is all the more tricky with it’s packed schedule and Covid problems.

That D in the middle was so annoying...

Just think Keita hasn't performed as well as expected. We thought we werr getting a match winner. Lfc paid big money for him - 3rd most expensive signing ever - and we were prepared to wait a full year for him.

I think everyone thought he'd be one of the first names in the team sheet

He's not being asked to play the way he was in the BL.

I was expecting Coutinho like dribbles through opposition midfields culminating in eye of a needle through balls to Mane and Salah.

I’d say the substitution thing is much more about managing his minutes than an reflection of his performance. Last night aside.

Why is he being targeted here? Is it because of the Villa game where virtually every player had a nightmare?

Because he was canned at HT maybe.

Criticism of him now is a bit daft when many were speaking much more positively of him.

I would say the criticism come from people who maybe don’t see the tactical side to the way our midfield usually operates. I’m gonna wait until someone starts questioning why Thiago is so average in our midfield in a few months. Gini had that criticism, as well as Hendo. All the criticism come from the same people usually.

The comparison to Joe Allen is farcical.
