To think if it wasn't for spurs we would have waited until the summer and the season might of played out entirely differently. Master stroke or stroke of luck?

I saw someone mention it earlier but I've never seen a new signing so unanimously praised from the get go either. Absolutely everyone in the media raves about him.

He does seem to integrate attackers quicker than defenders imo but no doubts he knows a hell of alot of confidence in Diaz, literally straight in there. Looks a potential worldie.

Luis Suarez. Everyone raved about him from the start. Even rival fans were excited by him in his initial half season, untill he stared pissing them off.

Not sure I agree. I think he was accused of being a diver early on. I don't remember him getting the universal love Diaz is getting to be honest.

He was raved about from all sections for his performances.
Diaz will catch **** too the second he gets awarded a penalty.

                Nowhere near.

I remember Carrol got a much bigger ovation than Suarez on his debut, plus when Suarez started his love affair with the woodwork, he was regularly accused of being a poor finisher.

Rodgers was also criticised for playing him CF, as our South American and Dutch football experts were explaining that LW is his best position and he can't play centrally.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Yeah, Suarez did miss loads of chances in his first season - I recall it being talked about on here, I think it was his second when he began to show his potential and everything started to hit the back of the net.
                  Modifying post.

Not at all! Carroll arrived injured and when he did start playing, the common opinion was that he disrupted Liverpool’s play and didn’t look a natural fit for the team.

Suarez came off the bench to score on his debut and caught a lot of attention and praise for his attacking play for the remainder of that season, even if he wasn’t a prolific scorer right away for us.

Opposition obviously played a big part (Carroll United, Suarez Stoke) but Carroll got a phenomenal reception that day and his first touch, winning a header IIRC, raised the roof.

We’re talking overall reaction to initial handful of performances though. Not just incidental moments just on their debuts or who got the biggest cheer when they ran onto the pitch for the first time

Aye, sort of two separate points. I was highlighting that many fans were more excited about Carroll over Suarez and although Suarez won over many with his performances, there was still a very vocal element moaning about his finishing.

Anyway, it's irrelevant, Diaz is class, everyone can see that, but like you say, a few poor performances and he'll get the same treatment as all his predecessors.
